My favorite is Mario Kart Wii because of the online multiplayer and great tracks (well..... I think they're great). DS is a close second because, like Sylverstone said, it's a great overall package.

The first through third are very close in my book, but sadly the the most 'fair' as far as AI goes is the SNES and the GBA titles as they didn't suffer at all from rubberbanding AI or other shenanigans. The n64 game did it little but not blatantly but it also had a very potent multiplayer setup. DD on the GC I never kept all these years, had it for a time and will rebuy some day, but the courses were hit and miss, mostly a hit but I grew tired of it.
The DS game if you play on 100cc or less is a fine game, pretty good tracks but a few that are just annoying, but at 150cc it cheats 100% as any race on any cup ends up with one guy in 1st, you in 2nd around 1-2sec behind, then cars 3-8 up your ONLY beating on you and ignoring the guy in first which is a sick joke, that and the online teleported a lot and had a bunch of snaking cheats along with true hacks/cheats so I got rid of it. The worst yet is the Wii game, forced bikes that aren't fun to drive in 100cc, kind of floaty handling, and most the tracks I didn't find fun at all. As I see it in my book those 2 are so bad, that if another was made in such level of low craptitude, I'd write off the series permanently and save myself the waste of funds and let downs.
