Which series do you like better? I've played all three Streets of Rage games and Final Fight 1-3 and I think Streets of Rage is the better series of the two. I thought they had better gameplay and the music was phenomenal (3 is debatable). The Final Fight games just didn't feel as satisfying. Ah well, guess I'll just stick with AVP for my Capcom beat-em-up fix. Also, Sega if you're reading this, get to work on a new SOR already

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Given that I've never played a Streets of Rage game, but love the Final Fight series—the first one in particular—I'm going to have to go with Final Fight...

I'd say the first Streets of Rage was about on par with Final Fight. And Streets of Rage 2 was superior to both of them. However, I'd say Final Fight 3 was a better sequal then Streets of Rage 3.
IDK, they were both pretty good, but I guess Streets of Rage was better overall.

I grew up on Final Fight 1 and 3, the third was my favorite. I liked the combo system even though the new guy was kinda lame, Guy and Haggar were . The only Streets of Rage I played back then was 2 I think, I might've played 1 too. But the one that sticks in my head is whichever had the kid on the rollerskates, I thought that was pretty lame back then. Was it one of the Streets of Rage games that also had the cop shoot a bazooka at you to help you kill everyone on screen?
Childhood opinion: Turtles in Time>>>>>>>>Final Fight>Streets of Rage

Yes, the first one has a cop with a bazooka, that's your special. The second one has a kid named Skate
Has to be Bare Knuckle / Streets of Rage on consoles, though I think the Arcade Final Fight is pretty good, and the Mega CD version has excellent music (a 60Hz VC version would do nicely, SEGA).
@grenworthshero: Oh, thanks for the clarification. Thinking back, we used to play a lot of beat em ups when we were kids, me and my brother. I do prefer ones where you can run+attack. Final Fight 3 was different from other beat em ups at the time because you had a super meter where could actually perform a super combo type move against an opponent. I can only remember Guy had a bunch of punches since he was my favorite to use back then. I don't remember much else and I may be mistaken, but I think there was a girl in that game too.
What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.
For consoles Id say streets of rage as you cannot have fun fighting against 3 enemy sprites (final fight) as a pose to 8 on streets of rage.
Don't forget that the SNES version of Final Fight 1 doesn't have coop play, which is why I didn't download it. I also didn't download Streets of Rage 1, as I heard it wasn't that great, especially compared to the sequels.
Between the other 4 games, I rate them SoR2>FF3>SoR3>>FF2
Streets of Rage 2 is basically about as good of a beat-'em-game as you can find. Everything is great! It even includes a duel mode and codes for extra difficulties, lives and stage select, and playing as the same character. The only problem is there's no way to turn off friendly attacks.
Final Fight 3 is a great game and a big step up from FF2 with alternate paths, the ability to dash / dash attack, AI controlled 2nd player coop mode, the option to turn off friendly attacks, and special combo attacks, but Lucia is a really bad fighter whose combos are terrible (I can't even get one of them to work at all!), plus Maki in FF2 and Blaze in the SoR games are a lot hotter. There's also the franchise technical problem of not being able to have too many enemies at once.
I think Streets of Rage 3 is underrated. It's a great game that added secret characters and the ability to use your special attack every so often without draining your health, but it's not as polished as SoR2, the levels aren't as good, and the story was mangled in localization. I also think it's somewhat too hard, whereas I find the difficulty in SoR2 to be perfect.
As for Final Fight 2, it's still a good game, but it's too hard even on the Easy difficulty, not enough "vertical" space to walk combined with no way to turn off friendly attacks make for a bad combination in coop play, no dash ability, not enough attack variety, terrible weapons, the first 3 bosses are pretty dull, the 5th boss is too cheap, and the final boss is a joke.

Final fight 2 is poor. Very repetitive, takes an hour to complete and you are basically fighting 3 people at a time that can walk twice as fast as you. Whats the fun in that for an hour.
Streets of rage 1 is better and is a good game. Kind of like Vendetta for megadrive.
Final Fight 2 is a pretty average beat-em-up. Final Fight 3 is the best one and is better than Streets of Rage 3. However, it's not as good as Streets of Rage 1 and 2.
Streets of Rage 2>Streets of Rage>Final Fight 3>Streets of Rage 3>Final Fight>Final Fight 2 is how I rank the six games.

@Waveboy: I already mentioned how the music was phenomenal (3 being the debatable one), but I'll agree with what you said anyways. The original Streets of Rage has one of the best soundtrack's for any Genesis game.
