Lol I remember I did have some of those stickers I think they came with MM2 but I cant remember. I cant blame the person for covering up the pic though, the artwork on the cartridge for the first MM game was bad. Megaman looked like a geriatric old man rather than the bluebomber himself. Kinda surprising how that series became a hit with such a bad picture on the cover. If that picture was the first thing I saw of the MM series I would have missed out on a great series.

The interview on the Gamecube and XBox versions of the Anniversary Collection briefly explained why the box art looks the way it does. The artwork was done very quickly (in about 6 hours or so) by some friend of a Capcom U.S. staff member. They needed a cover, and they needed one fast, which is why it turned out so bad.

It wasn't an overly popular series until the second game, actually. But MM2's boxart was also very bad, even though it was not as bad as the first game's boxart.
"Bad Boxart Mega Man" is actually going to be a playable character in MM Universe.

I think there were two PAL MM2 covers. I've heard someone call the one above "Patrick Stewart holding a bowling pin" and I've agreed with it. The other one wasn't too bad from what I remember.
At least the characters on the European releases look like the characters in the game (exept MM2) .If I remember correctly, Mega Man 4 - 6 has the same artwork on both sides of the Atlantic, but the European ones fix Mega Man's deformed face.
