Gameboy advance - the best handheld ever?
I don't think so.

I should say so, its like the portable equivalent of a SNES.

Gba sp to is my favorite handheld gaming device ever....

Being, as has been pointed out, pretty much the handheld Super NES, with Final Fantasy I, II, IV, V and VI, TLoZ: A Link to the Past & Minish Cap, Metroid Fusion & Zero Mission, F-Zero, Super Mario Advance games, three Castlevanias AND Game Boy backward compatibility... Thinking about it in depth, that's enough evidence for me. It's successors, of course, have superior graphics and so forth. Being that that isn't a priority for me, IMHO, it is the best handheld ever.

Let's attack aggressively, kupo! :D

The GBA has Mother 3 so yes.

Once all the great games come out, the 3DS will be the best handheld system ever.

This is how I see it:
GBA - An abundance in many Quality Platformers (Mario, Metroid, Megaman Zero), Action Titles(Astro Boy, Warioware, etc) and RPG's(FF, FE, Zelda) that really cater to the Gamers. Compatibility with the GC and GB is a huge plus.

DS - Home to one of the most unique games for its generation even with a lackluster launch. Caters to the fans of Puzzles (Picross DS/3D, Professor Layton, Tetris DS), RPG's(TWEWY, FF, Chrono Trigger), Adventure games (Hotel Dusk, Phoenix Wright, Trace Memory) and Platformers (Mario, Aliens Infestation, Henry Hatsworth).

Overall, The DS wins, with the GBA a close second. It just had a more diverse selection of games.

both are great, but in terms of diversity of titles, DS does it for me. in terms of quality titles, esp from nintendo, it's the GBA.

In my opinion, the DS was too innovative and too diverse. Now that I've got a 3DS, I can get DS games too, but I don't see much to get. Too much of its library consists of stupid new casual genres, boring puzzle games, games with unlikably weird experimental control schemes, and games that defy all description other than insane, super wacky Japanese c***. The GBA's lineup in TONS better.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

I personally prefer the DS more; but the Game Boy Advance was nice.

This is basically my response.

I third that. I missed out on quite some GBA titles though, so I hope the Virtual Console of the 3DS will change this.

You'd think so wouldn't you? Sadly no hope of this happening on the 3DS. Probably when they release the next generation.

Almost. However, my favorite handheld remains forever...

Hard for me to explain, I had more fun with the GBA than with any other system. BUT... If I had to choose between DS and GBA right now, I'd pick the DS since I'm playing it more. I still think the GBA wins it for me, though. If that makes any sense.

GBA was as close to an official portable Super NES as we'll likely ever get. Great system!

Plain old gamer :)

You sure you're looking in the right place? Because I have about 50 DS games that don't really fit any of the categories you just described. Not that I don't agree that the GBA's line-up was better, but still.

sorry I disagree GBA is probably the worst Nintedno handheld, simply because it was full of remakes, more then the 3DS has I mean you have LG/FR, FF 1+2, FF4-6, Mario advance series Street Fighter II,Mother 1 + 2, Klonoa, NES classic series, Metroid Zero Mission,Kirby NiDL, and ALTTP/4Swords, and other 3rd parties im missing, granted it had a lot of great titles that I hope come as ambassador games, but all in all GBA had too many remakes.

And that makes it the worst handheld, because it had many great remakes of amazing games to go along with all the good original games. Hmm.

Klonoa was not a remake. Also, most of those remakes far outdo the games they're based on, unlike most of the remakes on the 3D, which just look better without adding any content.
