So in less than two weeks the seventh generation of video game systems is going to be over with. Its been a pretty long generation lasting 9 years with crazy tons of changes to how we know gaming. From Online and motion control to the forefront to seeing episodic and digital games become just as big as retail games.
So with that said what's your favorite game this generation.
Mine is plain and simple Mass Effect
Mass Effect is not only my favorite game of this generation but my favorite series as well despite a few misteps here and there. The Xbox 360 was my first console this gen and before this I only had Kung -fu Panda and Lego Indiana Jones. Being a console only Gamer this was my first experince with WRPGs being beofre a big JRPG fan. The real time action mixed with being able to stop and think out my plan giving my team commands. The Player Agency in the first game allowing me to not only customize my Shepard but choose his decisions and seeing them reflect into the end game were amazing. The soundtrack is amazing full of alot of techno synths and hot fiery drums. The first 30 minutes In which the main theme plays followed by the landing on eden prime really set the tone for what I can only describe as what watching the original star trek or Star Was like.
Mass Effect is mine, but what's your favorite game this generation .

Xenoblade Chronicles. Everything about the game was amazing. The gameplay options, environments, the music, the story, all of it combined to make me look forward to playing it when I wasn't. I don't think I have ever put in over 100 hours on any game before and I would gladly do it again.
To blessed to be stressed.
80's music makes me feel fabulous.
What Would Duane Do? Rynoggery
The Last of Us by it's self has probably been my favorite game but Mass Effect has been my favorite series. It's really hard to pick between TLOU and Mass Effect 2...
That being said in-terms of online play Monster Hunter 3 would take the prize.
I think I'll just go top 10 on this:
1. Super Mario Galaxy
2. Xenoblade Chronicles
3. Phoenix Wright trilogy
4. Mass Effect trilogy
5. Twilight Princess
6. World of Goo
7. Mario Kart DS
8. Rhythm Heaven
9. Radiant Historia
10. Arkham City

This. The gameplay has a ludicrous amount of depth, but you can sorta play however you want. Also everything else about the game. Yes.

My game of the generation would have to be BioShock. Although the gameplay foundations are solid, it is the setting and story that truly made the game for me. As I explored Rapture I felt like I was uncovering its secrets.
Honorable mentions :
Mirror's Edge
Super Mario Galaxy
Left 4 Dead
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Gears of War 2
Fallout 3
BioShock Infinite
Ni No Kuni
The Last of Us

Honestly, a year ago, I would've listed that among my favorite games this gen, but I replayed it with my bro a while ago and realized that the exploration isn't that fun (It tends to be more frustrating than its worth), the story is minimal for at least half the game, and completely pretentious the other half, and the atmosphere seems to do its best to make me want to play the game less. I was surprised how much I disliked it the second time around...
after thinking for a while I MUST say the World Ends With You.
once again, I didn't play Xenoblade Chronicles and platforming isn't my favorite genre so scratch Mario Galaxy(but it came close really close to being my game of the generation!)
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn
