I'm not sure how old is this or if it had been mentioned here before, but for the few days that are left of this month you can download the sims 2 and all it's expansions for free in Origin with the download code "I-LOVE-THE-SIMS".

If the goal was to get me to try Origin, it could be successful. Never played a Sims game before

I heard about this. I wish my PC Worked. I could really use a game like The Sims to put my time into this Summer.

I think the Sims 2 is the best game in the series so getting the full thing for free was enough reasons to make me an account.

I also randomly got peggle for free. Extra loot is always nice.

I wish it was as simple as that for me two days ago. Before they announced the promo code, I had to contact EA Support to prove to them that I owned the physical copy of The Sims 2 so that they could give me a workable promo code for the Ultimate Collection. Either ways, I got the Ultimate Collection!

It's very tempting, but for me, Sims 2 doesn't hold up well compared to Sims 3. Yes, it has a good set of expansions, that the base game of Sims 3 would take out and go on to sell, but you can't freely explore the neighbourhoods on foot. After playing Sims 3, it would just seem so clunky.

But then again, I'm already committed to Origin, having registered Spore on the service, having received a free copy of Dead Space and Battlefield 1942, and seeing as it's free, I wouldn't say no to that.

The only thing is, I can't figure out where to find it. Sims 2 and its expansions seem to be absent from the Origin store for me, so I've got nowhere to put the promotional code.

You just need to go to the part where you put every promotional code (Origin->redeem code or something to that effect), the game itself can't be found on origin, but the promo code will work just fine.

Thanks.

I also forgot to mention I've got The Sims 3 tied to my origin account. If I ever want to play that again, I'm going to have to use Origin.

There used to be a time when I was so scared of using Origin, but now I just don't care. I'm going to get spam mail regardless of if I use origin or not.

As tempting as that is I would probably never play it. I get bored of those games rather quickly. I bought Sims 3 when it first came out played it for a few months and that was it. Oddly enough I do want to play Sims 4 but the same thing that happened with me and Sims 3 will happen with that one as well.

If you already have an account then there's nothing to lose really.

Even if you don't plan to play it soon.

I dunno, after Spore and the Sim City reboot, EA has been going out of their way to say "please pirate all of our games, we love it." Even being free, I'm not going through the hassle of signing up for Origin.

Just punched in this code myself, worked fine for me as of 24/7/14.

@8BitSamurai I don't get the hate for Origin. It's freaking free. Why do people keep saying things like "Trying to get me on Origin? No f-ing way EA! I rather drink my own urine" or some other line of the sort. What gives?

Didn't you two already have this exact discussion in another thread?

Don't get it wither, the ONLY thing i hate about it is that you HAVE to have it in order to play your games. No internet? You're screwed, and locked out of your games...even if you weren't planning on going online with the game.
But yeah, the thing isn't that bad. >.>

And I do hate what EA has been doing lately with micro purchases, and the ten bazillion expansions/DLC crap. But not all of their games are bad. (still wished people would go for Garden Warfare on the PC, that game is ridiculously fun, even with the flaws it has)
