It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
I'm seriously considering picking this up, but its a toss-up between this, Bioshock Infinite, or that new Deadpool game coming out later this month (what can I say, its freaking Deadpool!)

There's tons of games with good scores I don't like. I stopped liking alot of games, because they got good review scores, which got me to buy them, but I ended up not liking them myself.
That's why I don't buy games based off of journalist scores anymore.
That's actually something I can agree with.
Review scores are so inflated nowadays that they never reflect how good (or bad) the game actually is.
If I bought games based on their review scores I would have played many awfully boring games and missed out on some absolute classics

I may buy deadpool later on, my bet is it'll drop in price rather fast.
Ya. This game looks disappointing... The presentation is good, but the actual game and story don't seem that great, IMO. It looks like ZombiU mixed with Uncharted 2, and that's not a good mix, considering I didn't really like either of those games. BTW, I actually have both of the games I'm comparing it to.
I paid 20 something dollars expecting Uncharted 2 to be as good as the first one. That game was such a waste, IMO...
ZombiU... no. The vibe I'm getting from reviews is The Last of Us is quality in terms of player agency, rather than blockbuster action, though I'm sure there's some of that.
Anyway, I haven't seen this much praise for a game in ages.
Mario Galaxy 2?
Also, we're getting one of those this year. And GTA 5. And Watch Dogs. That's without mentioning some of the lesser-known games; stuff like Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, SMT IV, etc. And that's without stuff we don't know.
Yeah, this is going to be the best year in gaming since 2007.
Best thread ever

(I still have cancer though, thanks).
I can agree with this, too. Some of my least favorite games have high scores...still, there is something to be said about near universal praise. I know most of my top 10 all scored high on Metacritic outside of Solatorobo, which is too niche to reach that level of praise anyways (and Mega Man X because it's too old for Metacritics, but I think we all know it's well loved).

This got me curious, so I looked at the metacritic all time list. Last of Us has moved up to 96 in a crowded field, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 sits at 97, and GTA IV is king at 98.
I admit, I didn't find GTA IV very much fun to play.
Hell, the demo gave me cancer, butt cancer to be exact.
Damn... Ya, I regretted buying that game quite a bit. It was on sale on PS+, so I decided to pick it up. That, along with Borderlands, Dead Space 2, Jak & Dexter Collection, Assassin's Creed 1, 2, and Brotherhood, made me feel pretty ripped off.
I spent $200 on games that got praised highly by the media, just to find out they were BS, IMO.
I'm done with Playstation 3 tricking me into buying things. That's why I don't allow it to use AI, and only let it playback bluray and media.
@SCAR392 The PS3 tricked you into buying games? What does the PS3 gave to do with anything in that area, it wom't trick you anymore than Wii U or 360. Also if you didn't like AC 1&2 why did you buy Brotherhood, you already knew you didn't like the series. The fact that you liked Uncharted 1, but thought Uncharted 2 was a waste gives me cancer as well
The fact that this is rated M so I won't be playing it is giving me cancer too, it looks so amazing and it's made by Naughty Dog. I think this one will beat out Watch Dogs and GTA5 for GOTY.
Anyway, I haven't seen this much praise for a game in ages.

Weirdly enough, it's different on Metacritic's sister site, gamerankings. Mario Galaxy 1 is the highest rated game ever, and Mario Galaxy 2 sits above GTA IV. I find it interesting.

I've met more people who disliked it than people who did like it, to be quite honest...
Somewhat compelling story and fun Multiplayer let down by the series taking its self too seriously and focusing on Oscar worthy gameplay instead of being fun in the long run as well. Probably my least favorite of the rockstar games thus far. San Andreas is so much more open and fun, and Red Dead is much better at storytelling.

I mainly just bought the games, because they were on sale. I heard lots of people liked them, so I bought them with no experience. I ended up not playing a single one, except Dead Space 2 for the most part.
I really liked Dead Space 1, but the second not so much.
@Jaz007
I bought alot of these games as the ultimate bundles or whatever.
I haven't been buying games for my PS3, because all the games are the same to me. IMO, All the PS3 has is sequels that don't live up to the original.
The same goes for Xbox, except I sold my 360 before right before Judgement and Halo 4 came out. I still have all the games I had on my account digitally, so getting them back isn't a problem.
I almost bought Move controllers, but I had already beaten all the games that used them with a regular controller. I even bought Socom 4, and thought the game was lacking...
I think PS3 is a cool device, but the way Sony handles their games and features makes me not really want to play it. I think they should have done alot of what they did just in this last year right from the start.
That's the problem with putting a strong machine on the market, and not having anyway to use it. Really in a way, the end of the PS3 life cycle explains alot of how Wii U will handle things when it picks up, I think.
The PS3 has functionality, but the way it handles that functionality is a different story. Nintendo probably has more practical uses and ideas than Sony would have on an identical machine.
Kinda. I trusted word of mouth, combined with reviews, so I didn't think I would be disappointed. I bought Dead Space 2, and Uncharted 2 based on my liking of the first ones. I actually did research the games I bought, BTW... Experience is different than research.
