I am not sure if anyone else had been following this game but I have been since day one. I am really looking forward to this game as I have always been a fan of the Castlevania series. Looks like this one will be coming out October 5th just in time for Halloween.
Everything i've read or seen about this game makes it seem nothing like the Castlevania i know or want. I'll probably check it out if there's a demo, and the game itself might be cool, but it just sounds like God of War with a "Castlevania" skin.
It's set in 1047? As in beforeCastlevania? So it really is a reboot then?

I've loved all things Castlevania since I played the original on the NES when I was a little tyke, I've even managed to squeeze fun out of some of the series most infamously bad games...but I find myself feeling similar to shpydar regarding this 'reboot'. If I wanted a God of War clone (which I don't) with a gothic setting I'd play Dante's Inferno (which i haven't and don't want to).
I'm still hoping against the odds that it will satisfy my never ending thirst for Castlevania but my nagging pessimism says to chalk up another casualty of modern gaming stereotypes.
Assuming they get the system more polished than god of war (can't see that being too difficult, as all 3 God of War games seem to have been programmed by an 8 year old) it should be an absolute blast--especially with an awesome storyline and a main character's voice that doesn't make you want to mute the game every time he speaks.
Plus Patrick Stewart narrates it.

I love to see so many people who have never played "God of War" games before God of War. Meh, not my style of game, but can be fun once in a while. I just don't see much appeal to this game other than the name...

Looking forward to this. The God of War formula is a good one - fun, fast action with visceral violence and real impact, and God of War clones can be good - Dante's Inferno is way more fun than people give it credit for - to this day it's one of my favourite PS3 game.
I assume people will rip on this because it's not YET ANOTHER Metroidvania (and people complain that the God of War formula has become dull, lol), but any direction away from those games is worth a look at least, imo.

Noticing that God of War is what made the style mainstream thus resulting in numerous clones automatically means we've never played any games that may have inspired God of War itself? Fascinating.
I don't dislike the God of War formula because it's 'become dull' I dislike it because it was never fun for me. 'Metroidvania' on the other hand I'll take as many as they can give me. The whole concept that a style has to change and stay 'fresh' to be entertaining and satisfying makes no sense to me.
Well I just downloaded and played the Demo on my 360 and I am loving it. The music and the atmosphere is just like a Castlevania should be. Looks like I will be picking that up along with NBA Jame tomorrow.
