@Ralizah I read that but it seemed odd to tie something like that to blade skills. But this is an odd game, I guess.
Edit: actually, makes sense, if the idea is for you to get a higher chance of higher quality blades the further through the game you get. Like tying it to your character level i suppose, but perhaps encourages you to use blades you wouldn't normally bother with?
Battled against this dude named Zeke and my two party members died when I'd almost won. Then both of us needed one more hit to finish each other off. He was faster... It's nice to have some challenge, I'm sure I'll be able to beat him on my second try.
EDIT: Much easier on second try even though I just rushed back to the battle without any changes to my team. Also got a rare blade for Nia. Already forgot her name but it's ok, she forgot her name as well during the introduction scene. I didn't switch right away because I'm just two skills shy of getting everything for my rarity 2 blade. I grew quite attached to her even though she isn't a rare blade and has quite generic design.
40 hours in and finally catching up with battle mechanics and combos and must say.. anyone who says it’s too simple - didn’t play it enough or don’t understand it at all. This game surpassed all my expectations.. it’s sooo good! Third titan... that colors... very nice.. on TV ofc
After getting further in the game I'm really wondering if he rewrote some of the ideas he had for xenosaga that he never got to use and some of the characters (like Cole) look like they're straight out of xenosaga.
But for being my first big switch game... i still can't get over what this system can do.. this game looks utterly awesome.. these levels just blow me away.
I really need to play Xenogears eventually. Though, someday I hope they're able to release a complete Xenogears, considering what I know happened to that game's story.
@kkslider5552000 it's not like they made the stuff and cut it out of the game, disc 2 is the final product.. they would have to remake the game which is not going to happen.

lol why not
I mean, if they WEREN'T owned by Nintendo and/or SE wasn't releasing exclusives on Switch, I'd agree. But I could legitimately see this happening as a Switch exclusive. What, is it because it would be too ambitious? For Monolith Soft? Pfffffffffffffft. And considering they got their "currently relevant Nintendo IP" out so soon, they have plenty of time if they want.
Now, I'm not saying this will happen (in fact, I doubt it), but as long as Nintendo pays for it and SE approves it, it could very easily happen if they wanted to. I'm pretty sure Xenogears sold better than the previous 2 Xenoblades anyway...
So I've just played the first three chapters and can already see the xenostory potential, this is gonna be good!
I'm wondering how I'm going to get those better looking blades with all their awesome specials and all that. I know I need luck but is there like, a bare minimum statistic? Guess I'll find out, so far this is one awesome game.
Really enjoying the game so far (at the beginning Chapter 4). But what‘s bothering me a bit is that whenever I use Skip Travel, the game loads like a second or two and then throws me into the world with barely any textures loaded until a few seconds later. I‘d rather have waited a few seconds more than this. Frankly, it takes me out of the experience a bit. Kinda like in Tales of Xillia 1 and 2 where you‘d travel somewhere, walk around for a few steps and only then would NPCs load in.

A truly incredible game, one of my favorite RPGs, maybe the best Xeno game for me.. And yes I love almost all of them, for different reasons. (Xenogears always wins for nostalgia, of course, and because I played it at the perfect age, like 13-14ish.)
One thing I want to point out to no one in particular is that the core crystal system is smart and only a "gacha" if you view it from an entitled perspective. What I mean is that the alternative would require the completion of rigid goals: either finding every treasure chest, completing every side quest, extensive salvaging, or taking down every unique monster to acquire the blades.
Instead this system allows the player to focus on whichever goal they prefer while accumulating crystals the whole time, granting freedom to the player rather than coralling them. So I bristle when people assert that this system is somehow spiteful when actually it respects the players choice of gameplay.
That said, I also don't care if I find every blade and in fact appreciate the variety the blade system encourages. But even viewing it from the stance of a completionist, I don't see how this system is worse than forced quests or grinds.
Sorry for the double post, but a unique joy the Xenoblade games give me is that they grant significant freedom to scale obstacles you are clearly not supposed to until you get to a spot that seemed inaccessible. In these exclusive locations you can witness some of the greatest views and peculiarities, like the cloud sea glitching in and out if existence.
For instance I can almost make it to the branch hanging over Torigoth, it just requires some adept branch walking and jumping.
Later I will try to find a few screenshots as examples, but you can find that XC2 is uniquely beautiful even when effects like fog are glitched, maybe even moreso in some cases.
This game is incredible. I've had so much fun playing it, and although I liked Xenoblade Chronicles X, having a well-developed protagonist again is great. I've loved unlocking the various rare blades (I've unlocked three so far due to goods luck and use of boosters), and have really enjoyed the plot.
The beginning of the plot moved a little too quickly for my taste (Hey baby I just met you how's about I help you on your life or death pilgramage) and I don't like how the game autosaves when you attempt to unlock a new blade, but other than that it's amazing.
I would have preferred fewer blades, all of which have unique designs. The normal blades are incredibly boring on a design level.
But yeah, the characters are all lovely looking in this game. I didn't think I'd like Rex's design when I first saw him in the trailer, but I'm OK with it at this point.
Ya. I thought the pants looked a little weird the first time I saw the game.
But now that I've played the game and I have context, knowing that he is a salvager with a scuba diver like suit... now it all makes sense and it actually looks pretty rad imo.
Now I look at it and I absolutely love his outfit. He's got to be the most likable and well-designed character in the entire series.
