I'm happy this is coming to the Switch, but it's sad how all we seam to be getting are old games. Most my Switch collection is remakes, ports and retro remasters. Not enough games built from the ground up for the Switch but I suppose that is a different topic for another thread I suppose. Anyway I am still HYPED!!

@Dezzy
it wasn't just that, I remember the main problem was the boss of the developer team stolen part of the loan(they did not manage well the funds neither paid their employees) gave from the u.s. state government I don't remember the name of the state, after the failure of the company the IP remained in the hand of the government until THQ bought it back .

about the game i played twice the xbox 360 and ps3 later, i never manage to finished always reached the 75% of the game and stopped because it was too easy and the amount of quests too much overwhelming , and i only did the first DLC to the end.
i will happy to dip it againg and this time go to the end of 100% completion .
i have hope because the remake added a new and more difficulty level rebalancing everything

Yeah, it was one of the small states on the east coast. Rhode Island or something like that.

THQ Nordic twitter account mentions that the full game will be on the Switch cartridge.

Excuse me, I need to go place a preorder.

@Solomon18 You DO realize that this game, and any and all of the other remasters that we've seen lately, are also released on the other two consoles, right?

I don't remember ever having seen an Xbox or PlayStation owner complaining about releases like these. That's something apparently completely unique to Nintendo fans...

@aresius @Dezzy It was Rhode Island and no the development team didn't steal any of the money. What happened was Big Huge games got the loan which also includes enough to make a sequel/MMO to KoA. EA the publisher of Kingdoms of Amular didn't promote the game well and as a result it didn't sell well. Alot of speculation was that EA didn't promote the game well because they didn't want it competing with its own Dragon Age series. Dragon Age already had stiff competition from Bethesda with Skyrim they did want another RPG coming out and stealing Dragon Age's thunder.so to speak.

As a result the game sold poorly and EA backed out of their agreement to publish the game and the end result is Curt Schilling and Big Hugs Names couldn't pay back the loan and ended up going bankrupt and lost the IP because they didn't have the money from EA that was promised to them. The state of Rhode Island later sold the IP to get back some of the money from the loan which was how THQNordic got the IP.

@ThanosReXXX I think what @Solomon18 meant was PlayStation (and to a lesser extent xbox) also get a lot of new games to bolster the remasters whereas Switch seems to only be ports and remaster at the moment.

Hopefully this sells well and we get a sequel as it has amazing Lore and is such a great world.

@Solomon18 @ThanosReXXX To be fair, that's because Xbox and Playstation are getting a stacked roster of new games in addition to all these old games.....Switch has been kind of trapped getting the old games and not so much in the way of new games. The complaints are understandable at this point. Switch was poised to be my favorite console of all time from 2017-2018, but then it kind of idled over and I think 3DS still holds that spot. Which might end up surpassed by XSX when all is said and done.

Could be worse. Switch could have received Cyberpunk.

I’ll add it to the pile, but not sure when I’ll get to it. I enjoyed the original but got it late in the 360s life and my xbone won’t read discs cuz I’m cursed, so I never beat it. Work and school are kinda kicking my panties up one side and down the other. (I’m so tired)

@Mr-Fuggles777 @NEStalgia Of course they are, and that's always the "but" in regards to these things.
I obviously already knew that, but the thing is that these games are only getting criticized when arriving on the Switch, whereas the same damn games arriving on Xbox or PlayStation do not get the same negativity, and that is besides whatever else is released on whatever platform.

I'm just looking at how the same game release is looked at/received on various platforms. On Switch, it's always "oh, no. Not ANOTHER old or re-hashed game" and on Xbox and PlayStation it's usually "Ah, finally a full remaster of this brilliant game".

See the not so subtle difference? It greatly irks me, to be honest.

@ThanosReXXX And me on the other hand LOVE those remakes, remaster or just straight ports on the Switch.

There are so many new games on every console OR PC that are more than enough for the "new and original" game seekers.

Mr-Fuggles777

@ThanosReXXX it doesn't help that they are always much later coming to Switch.
I would have 100% picked this up as it is perfectly suited to handheld play. But I have already picked it up back I Sept and completed it, so it is "just another re-release" at this point. The shine has worn off and that scratch was itched.
It's one of the things that irks me because I love the console but by the time a lot of the games come out I've already played them elsewhere due to porting delays.
On the plus side with cloud gaming at lease we are getting releases at the same time - they just need to sort out a subscription service like PSnow or Game Pass.

First, Rhode Island is an awesome little state. You can drive from north to south in under an hour, even shorter west to east. I lived there for six years. Beautiful shorelines and Providence is a quirky miniature Boston. My brother still lives there and my goal is to convince my wife we should move there before my daughter is school-aged lol

@ThanosReXXX
Yea, it's dumb when people complain about this stuff. I think they justify it by pointing to the somewhat usual lag time in the Switch getting the port. I think this one is a few months off from the other consoles. But there are plenty of remasters and ports that come out at the same time, and people just don't like to mention it.

The way I figure it is that a few months of delay for something to reach the Switch isn't that big a deal if it's an old game. It strikes me as ironic when people complain about old games, yet they somehow need to have it on day one? If it's an old game you've played before, I wouldn't think a delay would be that big a deal.

@ThanosReXXX If I had to summarize the 3 communities the reaction to every release is:

Sony fans: YES, Another win for Sony!! TeH BESHT!
Xbox fans: YES, and we're getting it for free in a few months too! (enter Sony troll to tell them it's the lame version)
Nintendo fans: Pfft....lame.

First party games:
Sony: YES, these are the best studios, the best brand, I BLEED BLUE!!!
Xbox: Wow they're really starting to make actual games again! It's looking good!
Nintendo: Pfft, she ain't what she used to be....... I'll buy it anyway though.....

I get it though....there's no negativity in the other camps because it's good supplimentary content to the ever constant new stuff. It's welcome to see refreshes of old classics you played or missed, usually at discount prices. When it comes to Nintendo usually it's months after the other platforms, for double (or more) the price, and is instead of new content you couldn't have played for the past 10 years.

Granted, I'm giggling like a little girl with SMT Nocturne..... I'll take that over 90% of the new first party content....that's on my list before any of the Sony and MS games, and even Bayonetta 3. But I get it all the same...

@Zuljaras Indeed there are, and there are literally THOUSANDS of games on Switch, INCLUDING hundreds of new ones, but apparently it's never enough, because no matter how much, when it's less than on the competing platforms, it's still too little, regardless of whether or not you'd ever be able to play all the games on offer on the Switch, much less finish them...

@Mr-Fuggles777 Not always, it's about 60/40, probably. And sometimes only a month or two, so that's absolutely nothing to cry about, but all these so-called game-fans want everything, and they want everything NOW, so there is never a possibility to reach some kind of middle ground where we can all be happy that games like these are ALSO coming to Switch, alongside the other, WAY more powerful platforms.

And THAT is the way we should look at it, because it's a plus that it's also coming to Switch, NOT some kind of disadvantage. And again: it's the same damn game, so it simply CANNOT be good on one platform, and bad on the other.

@rallydefault I think it's FOMO: "I don't have any of the other platforms, and my friends do, so now they already get to play it and I have to wait a WHOLE month before I can FINALLY also be cool and up to date with my gaming catalog"....

@NEStalgia Agreed with the console crowd profiling, not so much with the conclusion of your comment, because I don't believe at all that these games are coming INSTEAD of others, seeing as games made by external developers are of no influence whatsoever on Nintendo's own catalog.

Either way, as mentioned a couple of times before, I'm just looking at it within the confines of this game itself, not with additional available titles. As I asked the other guy, how can the same damn game be good on one platform, and be bad on the other? It's almost like a reaction to pestilence or something. Kill it, kill it with fire...

@ThanosReXXX I will hold my hands up as I'm definitely a bad offender for not wanting to wait. I will buy games elsewhere as they release rather than wait for the port and then moan I've got nothing to play on my Switch.
It doesn't help that I also had a wii-U so all of those ports are also old to me. It's like the upcoming Mario 3D World, I'm finding it difficult to get excited for what is effectively a bit of full priced DLC.

@Mr-Fuggles777 I was actually going to mention the Wii U, but I forgot: I too have a Wii U, but I personally find it ridiculously selfish to not want to see those games appear on the Wii U, because on that failed console, most of these games had a FAR too small audience and besides that, it simply makes perfect business sense to give these games a second chance on a far more successful platform, so good on Nintendo. They're not a charity, they're a business, so they can now at least recoup some of their Wii U losses with minimal efforts, which is what I would also do, because it's smart business.

Simply put, I look at it with a broader perspective than just my own, which would be too short-sighted. Just because I already played and/or own Mario Kart 8 and Pikmin 3 doesn't mean that someone else shouldn't have any opportunity to play them as well.

And remember: most of these people never had a Wii U, so to them, these ARE new games. We're not alone in this world, so looking at it with that in mind, definitely helps to see the light. It still sucks a bit, to some degree, but at least it makes it entirely understandable.

As for the difference in release window: don't give a crap about that either. I'm 50, I have WAY too little time to play games, I've got a multi-platform backlog of the size "to the moon and back again", so I can definitely afford to wait a couple of weeks. I actually never buy games or consoles on day one. I always wait until the dust has settled, and games go down in price, and consoles have amassed a decent catalog.

The only exception to my own rule is limited editions or temporarily available stuff, such as the mini consoles and more recently, Super Mario 3D All Stars, which I definitely wanted to have, so I made that exception, but other than that, I'm good for many, many years to come. And I'm still collecting older games as well. As mentioned in the Chit-Chat thread, I've now added some new titles to my Wii U and 3DS catalog, so those new and WAY too expensive games can most definitely wait.
