Topic: Puzzle and Dragons: Switch Edition

Anyone else getting this? I guess the micro-transactions are slightly worrying since this game isn't free-to-play, but they did say that it's impossible to get duplicates here. Anyways I am interested in it, it does suck that co-op is local only and hopefully they'll update it so we can play co-op online, but...being able to play this while docked, that's a win for me. I thought about getting Gold but apparently that's a handheld mode only game...ugh.

Oh yeah, custom dungeons? What? I'm gonna have look into this at some point as well. lol

Oh right, pre-set teams...guess that's another thing that bugs me...I kinda liked setting up my own team.

The microtransations are a big turnoff even though the game is cheap. I'd prefer to pay like 5x as much for a game without any.

They already said it's just for the egg machine, so...

But at the same time I wouldn't be upset if it never happened.

I'd rather play Puzzle Quest or Gems of War honestly

I'm not sure how to feel about this announcement if I'm being honest.
On one hand I loved Puzzle and Dragons on the 3ds and I'm glad this series is getting more support in the west. But on the other I'm not sure how well the gameplay will translate considering the Swich's touchscreen is obviously inferior to the 3Ds', and the controller controls don't look the least bit intuitive.
More information is needed for me, hopefully a demo comes out for this.

From what I can tell either the timer (that happens when you start moving stuff around on the board) has been increased by a lot, or is just not there at all. Probably because of the controller controls. Anyways I bought it, it should unlock in 3 hours...might record a video of it, dunno yet. But the fact that Gold was handheld only was the only reason I didn't bother with the game, sure moving stuff around will be slower than when using the touch screen, but I still would rather play this on the TV.

Well I recorded an hour of it (it's still rendering, no idea if I'll post it here but my channel is in my signature, lol), controls are fine, but I guess for PvP it's best to use touch controls...? I'm pretty sure I just suck, though...I always end up in last, and I'm even bad when against CPUs. >.<

Honestly the 3DS game was my favorite as well, probably still is. Can't remember if I ever completed the games, though...I think I got towards the end of the Mario one (I did beat the game, can't remember if it had post-game stuff, though), and stopped half-way through the extra post-game stuff on Z.

I do hope they do another one, especially now that they made it playable on the TV. Or maybe update Gold with TV mode compatibility or something. lol

@Joeynator3000 Watched your video. The gameplay looks exactly what I was expecting and thats not a bad thing at all.
But it doesn't seem to have any story elements and just feels more like a mobile game unlike the 3ds game.
The premise just seems to be clear floor move on, clear dungeon, rinse repeat.
I think I might have to pass on this one.

Eh, never cared about story, honestly...can barely even remember what Z's was all about, I was enjoying the Mario side anyways and that barely has any story. lol

Only things that bug me here are the teams are pre-set and can't be changed, and the dungeons are kinda...short and simplistic. I guess that's how it was in the mobile game but I just miss the 3Ds game where it had multiple paths.

I don't know if an teams are locked behind those other egg machines where you have to pay, I hope not. I was also hoping there would be a way to get those without paying but apparently not? I think the only other way is through achievements and even then I think it's a one-time only. :/

I hope all of the teams are behind the standard egg machine, I only have 4 and only the first one is decent. But yeah, whatever...it's $5...I just hope they port Z/Mario Edition over or give it a sequel or something. Especially now that they've made TV mode a thing here.

@Joeynator3000 So in terms of the Egg Machines you have to pay actual money and not in game currency you earn ? I was hoping you would earn gems through playing which you could then use on the machines. If you have to pay money to use the Egg Machines that's a deal breaker for me.

Gutted, as I used to play this on mobile and really enjoyed it.

The trailer for this looked great, but the price with in-game purchases gives me concern. I would rather just pay $25-30 outright. I went ahead and got the 3DS's Puzzle and Dragons game with the Mario spin-off after reading about it in the Youtube comments. Didn't know there may be issues with that game with a physical copy, so I canceled my Amazon order for that and went for the digital off of the eShop. I've gotten errors while trying to download, but hopefully that's my battery not being charged enough to complete a download rather than a software issue.

...Yeah, so there's no in-game currency at all, the only way for you to get the other egg machines is through achievements. From what I can tell, there's only ONE so far, and it's for the event...and it turns out some of the unlockable teams are in these egg machines.

I seriously was expecting this to be optional since you paid for this game...why did they do this? If it was nothing but simply avatars then I'd be fine, but no they have unlockables in these. Not just teams but music and stuff as well. -.-

Started playing earlier today, somehow got lucky that my first Egg machine pull was a rainbow-coloured egg (rare, I'm guessing?), unlocking me a pretty decent water element team.

I don't mind having preset teams really, if anything to take out any heavy level grinding (present in 3DS Edition) to get my team members up to standard. That for me is a big plus.

Regardless, I can definitely see myself playing more of this. It's no Z or SMB Edition sure, but for £3.21, you get what you pay for.

I think Rainbow eggs simply mean avatars that has a team as a bonus item. But yeah most of them are in the paid machines...and there's no in-game currency. As far as I know there's only one achievement to get one free pull from one machine. Why didn't they just port the original mobile game at this point?

I'm just gonna hope that Gold gets a TV mode update...or we get a Switch version of Z + Mario Edition...with TV mode. -.-

Maybe this one will get some updates to fix some issues, but something tells me that I doubt it...
