Topic: Nintendo Direct 3/8/18 Predictions and Hopes!

So Nintendo just announced a Direct that will air tomorrow. What are your hopes or expectations?
Personally I'm hoping for a full reveal of Fire Emblem, a release date for Octopath Traveler, and some quality third party titles.

Mario Galaxy is ten years old, and now I feel old.

Something tells me it's gonna be a boring one.

New games. I'd like to see some real 3rd party support.

I'm not expecting much, to be honest. I don't see Animal Crossing being revealed outside of E3, and I don't see Pokemon getting an announcement here, either. They usually get their own Direct.

It'll be more footage of games we already know about, and some new third party titles. But what amazes me is how this rumour was actually true.

i Have three things:
1. Can we just get Smash 4 DX announced already and be done with it. (yeah, i know we have enough ports as it is. but thats all people request to be announced, each time a direct is confirmed. , although, it will probably be the hype port out of the bunch. and i'll only buy it if they add both 3DS/Wii U content, and new chars.)
2. more importantly, new games announcements (third parties, unannounced games etc.)
3. Pipe Dream: Virtual Consoles,

other than that. just hoping for a good direct.

@FragRed Same here, I'm dumbfounded that Marcus Sellars was actually right for once!

Another thing I'm hoping for is maybe, just maybe, a glimpse at either Pokemon Switch or Metroid Prime 4. I know it's unlikely, but just a little teaser for either of them--even if it's just cinematic--would be a great way to remind people that they actually exist, and aren't just logos after all.

Probably something like this:

  • Mario Tennis
  • Fire Emblem
  • Missing release dates/names (Yoshi, Project Octopath, etc.)
  • Some minor/medium 3rd party support announcements (Diablo? Mega Man? Maybe something totally unknown?)

Probably not: Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Smash, Metroid (all E3 soonest), Pikmin, Pikmin, new Zelda

Hopefully: one of the 'proably not's' , 2D Super Mario bros (either new or port/remaster), Zelda port/remake, more interesting DLC for Odyssey, new courses for MK8DX (I know, wishful thinking).

My predictions are:

  • 3DS headlines (~6 minutes)
  • Mario Tennis Aces (~8 minutes)
  • Switch headlines (~8 minutes)
  • Unannounced or announced but not fully revealed Switch game (8 minutes) [most likely candidates would be Yoshi, Fire Emblem, Octopath Traveler or a unannounced game]

As for hopes within that structure:

  • Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition is an April game
  • Mario Odyssey DLC
  • Fire Emblem Warriors Awakening DLC available after the Direct
  • Fire Emblem is the game revealed at the end
  • A release date for the Mario + Rabbids story DLC
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC
  • There's enough 3rd party support to satisfy those concerned by the lack of announcements recently

Not expecting much, but I think that:

  • A trailer for Fire Emblem
  • Confirmation on Diablo 3
  • Super Mario: Odyssey Paid DLC

are likely to be shown.

I know it's not everybody's thing, but I'm really wanting some more quality jrpgs 😅 Been playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 but I really want to add some stuff to my gaming library. Im currently playing the Project Octopath Traveler demo and really liking it. Not really liking all the mobile game ports though 😐 and maybe some news from Marvelous Entertainment regarding a new story of seasons or (wishing) for a switch rune factory game?

I think all the sensible predictions have already been mentioned, so i'll add one think I wish would happen but I doubt it will: more info and release date of Bayonetta 3.

And add one wild and crazy dream: CUSTOM ROBO SWITCH (but only if we can pretend the DS one never happened).

@Winklebottom Probably not. They might mention it offhand, but we won't get any more solid info on it.
