Eel

@Tsurii nope, by that time there's no beach to be at!

It's just a tiny short extra bit after the credits.

hardly even a scene.

@GuitarPlayerBP,

When you beat the warping enemies, you get a key. Maybe that's the one you are missing?

Oh, and about those Marin interactions: It seems they are in the original after all. What's different though is that the music changes in some places when Marin follows you.

@Henmii

Thanks for the reply, I can't get to the wrapping enemies without a key. I used the one key I had to go into the west locked gate.

@Galenmereth

Ok, that's good to know ... guess I'll keep poking around. Maybe there is a different location that has a key and then I come back?

Figured it out. It suddenly struck me that I had retrieved the 3 hearts floating above the tread-belt but had not defeated that dudes in the chamber throwing ninja stars. Once I defeated them it dropped a key.

Thanks for the encouragement that there was a solution.

My only 2 criticisms of this game is that
1) there's not much side-content at all. It's really just the main quest.
and
2) the dungeons, whilst well-designed, feel very outdated after playing ALBW. That game really took advantage of 2D dungeons that use the third dimension.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

@Octane
Yep, we said LA was the start of hand holding Zelda games.

hey Link to the past had hand holding too. you had marks right on the map telling you where to go.
I do remember however getting stuck on the mountain where you have to get the moon pearl. I actually ended up calling the nintendo hotline for help. For some reason i forgot to open the big chest.

They changed that one on the gba version. It caught me off guard when I played the SNES version on virtual console and the temple was different.

So playing through this game, and gotta say, the first three dungeons are awful. Among the worst in the series. I literally couldn't remember anything from them. But then we hit dungeon 4 and it improves significantly, even if 4 isn't amazing, being far more open. The color dungeon... Pretty pathetic honestly for the sole new dungeon in DX, but at least it doesn't punish colorblind people now. And now I'm on 5, and I remember why it's such a great dungeon.

Like it's annoying as heck, but it's trying to be. It's a whole dungeon that flaunts your inability to continue too far in any one direction due to the stolen hookshot. It constantly feels like you're fighting your way through a dungeon you should be now equipped for if the (first) miniboss wasn't such a jerk. The whole things set up so you're constantly exploring and hitting dead ends, trying to struggle your way to even a single key. It's definitely one of the highlights of this game.

Tldr; Having a core idea of what you want the player to experience is what makes a good dungeon, something LA struggled with.

I noticed the Hookshot no longer works on the boss. I always used that instead of my sword.

So I finally beat the game (didn't beat it back in the day) and here are my impressions: I never got warm with Zelda somehow, and I still see why. While being a nice joyful experience, there is a fine line (for me) between a good puzzle, that just takes the right time and brainpower to figure out and annoying ones, that are convoluted or confusing, or kindergarden style easy ones. Obviously that's not LA's fault as it can't cater to all player's tastes, but still. The ending was predictable a mile way but it was still cute, if somewhat weird. I wonder if I would like something open like BOTW more, or if it is too open for my tastes. Having a hard time lately finding anything entertaining enough to warrant investing my (precious) time into it, I have to say, this still comes out impressive. I'd rate it 8/10 overall. Perfectly happy with that. Now is just the qestion... resell it while it's still hot or keep it to play through it all over again at some point... hmmm.
