Hi, Santa is going to bring a switch for the kids (and myself), but im really out of the Nintendo universe,
My kids are 9 and 6, I was thinking on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, for the older one, Mario Kart 8 so we can compete, the younger one is really into pokemon, My first choice was pokemon arceus, but looking into the game migth be a bit complex...for a 6 years old kid, any suggestion regarding pokemon for a 6 years old? Lets go Pikachu? or any other game I there is no good options in Pokemon
@matusa15Mario Odyssey is the most loved & most played game for my three nieces ages 6-15. This is also one of my favorite games. It's pure joy to play.
For very accessible family fun, every time I'm with my nieces, like around holidays, we play Spot the Differences Party!. My 8 year old niece is still intimidated by Mario Kart 8 and Mario Odyssey. So, she always really loves playing this with me or her sisters.
As for your 6 year old do you know where his / her reading comprehension level is? Not saying it to be insulting but some of the pokemon games at least the ones I've played in the past on gameboy, ds, & 3ds in the past some are a little text heavy. Paw Patrol & Luigi's Mansion on switch are pretty fun. I play both the kiddie games & some e10 to teen games. I more tend to stick to the kiddie games personally because there usually more clean cut. Paw Patrol is read aloud in the game~ đ¤ˇââď¸âď¸
@matusa15 The let's go games are a fantastic choice for younger pokemon fans! If you can, I also suggest tracking down one of those Pokeball controllers for it if you can find one at a reasonable price as they really add to the immersion.
P.S. The Pokeball controller originally retailed for around $50 USD, so look for one around that price if you go for it
I would say botw, Mario odyssey, a Lego game, possibly the new Lego Star Wars, and animal crossing, there great starters. Tho I think botw is debatable.
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outsideâŚyou know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

Sorry for not being active much recently, but Iâm very much alive!
Super Smash Bros is great game for kids. I remember playing the Wii U one in my younger years and having a blast especially with multiplayer. And the one on Switch is probably even better! I'm surprised no one mentioned it yet.
Another recommendation I would give for younger kids would be to download several free demo's. The little bit of the game has often been enough to keep little one's happy and make them feel like they have new things to play without costing you any money.
If it help's 2 of the paw Patrol nintendo switch games walmart has in the clearance section for $20 each~ đ¤ˇââď¸đ Pretty sure because there older switch games but new to anyone who hasn't played them. As a millennial I was impressed with the graphics personally~ âď¸
Happy Gaming! (^_^)

I know a lot of people weren't big on Kirby Star Allies (as it's on the easier side of things), however, I think it's a great family game, especially when getting two younger kids into video games.
I also love Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as a good family game, even more so since the wife and I can turn auto steering on (which IMO is a great feature), for our youngest (he's four, going on five very soon), so it definitely helps him a lot.
My kids are exactly the same age and both have their own Switch Lites:
My 9 year old loves Mario Odyssey, Pokemon Shield/Sword, Luigiâs Mansion 3, Pokemon Snap, Miitopia, Yoshiâs Crafted World. Honestly, you canât go wrong with Mario!
My 6 year old is less enthusiastic (I find that 6/7 was when my eldest really started to get into gaming) but enjoys New Super Mario Bros Deluxe, Moving Out, Pokemon Letâs Go Eevee/Pikachu, Cruisinâ Blast and Yoshiâs Crafted World.
Hope that helps. The advantage of them both liking Switch (as do I) is that we just share games. Each machine keeps our own saves so game carts can just be swapped between our 3 Switches and we can all play our own save files.
@matusa15
My recommendation with 3rd party games on Switch to enrich their knowledge about video games not just only know about 1st party games like Mario and etc.
Paw Patrol games
LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER
Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles
Moving Out
Overcooked All You Can Eat
Go Vacation
Dodgeball Academia
Race with Ryan
Again.. thank you very much to all , almost no one is mentioning breath of the willd, and someone mentioned that migth not be a good idea.. I just remember my NES, and how much enjoyed "The legend of Zelda", but I migth thing again about that one... honestly, I think that my "inner me" wants it for himself , overcooked seems great for collab
I would also say Pokemon Let's Go is great for a younger player, there's a bigger focus on catching Pokemon, though there are some Pokemon battles against other trainers. There is still quite a bit of reading if you want to know the story or talk to others and need a hint on where to go.
I don't know if your kids like the recent Smurfs cartoon, if so, I recommend Smurfs Mission Vileaf. A really well made game based on the cartoon series. Played this on PC being a fan of the Smurfs, but it's also on Switch and it's a pretty decent platformer.
Can't go wrong with cart racers. Mario Kart 8 is great fun, and Team Sonic Racing is a great alternative. There's also a couple of cartoon themed racing games, like Paw Patrol and Nicktoons, keep in mind I haven't played those two, so I have no opinion on them.
Hope you find something you and your kids like.
@matusa15 From the sounds of that, it sounds like you might like Zelda.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
Pac Man World Re Pac is a good and cheap 3D platformer to gateway your young one into 3d Platformers if you can't shell out 60 bucks for Mario 3D World as it's not too expansive and as Odyssey. Mario Kart 8 is the ultimate choice for your kart racing fix as it has a lot of tracks and characters, (not counting the Booster course pass.) Nick Kart Racers 3 is another cheaper option.
Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.
