They brought this on their selves. Sega has lost every bit of my respect for them the last few years. After piss poor games and piss poor games you can honestly expect people to actually buy your games.
For every killer game they publish, they drag their old IP through the mud. Another company needs to come in, buy them out, restructure, and start producing solid classics again.

But it's been SEGA that has been doing the buying(Atlus), so I don't expect them to be bought out anytime soon. Eventually, you'd think they'll learn from their mistake marathons.
@arronishere: He's basically the SEGA equivalent of those people who say that Nintendo should die, after all...seriously, didn't he make a thread stating that SEGA should die at one point? I could be mistaken, though.
There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

Losses happen, and frankly, I'm not really surprised. Nonetheless, SEGA still has a good amount of potential to get out of there, they just need to realize what makes their IP's strong instead of subjecting them to constant experiments.
Also, Nintendo has a very good reason to defend them because of their games having quality over quantity. SEGA on the other hand at this moment barely has any quality. Just look at the recent Tembo game. Its mixed simply because SEGA rushed Gamefreak. If a game company simply bashes its consumers constantly rather than it being a rare case, then expect SEGA to be one of those companies that deserve nothing BUT bashing. After all, Konami, Capcom and many more come to the level of SEGA.
The only reason SEGA is doing fine is because they bought Atlus. If they didn't, they'd go bankrupt by now.
Look I got nothing against them and now being a game designer and starting a job, I don't know if ranting towards a company is professional or not, but for someone who has a potential to do something and fails to do it and expects to please their fans in doing this yet rushes development and is concerned of making more money is something that should be taken note. Consumers need satisfaction and if SEGA doesn't give satisfaction to either their fans or consumers, then there's no point of them focusing in the game market.
Ironically it's the games most on here would consider bad that are doing well for them, and that's their mobile titles. They put out some of their best work in the Dreamcast era and nobody bought it, so the idea that just going back to being the old Sega will make them loads of money isn't exactly a great shout.
@Peach64: The reason the Dreamcast lost was because of the PS2 and the fact that SEGA did marketing hell for the SEGA CD and Saturn. But not because of the game quality.
So long as Atlus is fine and I have some chance of getting VF6 without mass harvesting kidneys and selling them on the black market to fund---wait did I say that out loud?
Um so long as Atlus and VF are fine I'm fine with Sega...although a new shinobi wouldn't hurt.

yes but its basically admitted that those games are not enough (and while this might not be true for mobile in general, bad games are usually not a great long term profit strategy). They can do whatever, but when they release and market a good game it tends to do well so I find it a bit silly to say "oh well they made great games but they didn't sell on the Dreamcast so they shouldn't try".
And they're mobile games, they don't exactly take the same amount of people to make a console Sonic game.

Agreed, although it's not as if they did marketing hell with the Saturn and the CD...I would argue that the CD's problem was more of flawed concept and the Saturn of EXTREMELY flawed execution. (Although the CD was pretty poorly executed too, wasn't really a bad idea, in all honesty.)
If this next sonic boom game is as low quality as the first, I hope nobody buys it.
Umm...the 3DS version of Boom was the only decent one to begin with. Whereas the Wii U version was poor quality, the 3DS version had lots of quality, it just wasn't what hardcore fans would expect from a Sonic game. Hopefully the new one does a better job at appealing to classic Sonic fans in terms of control and gameplay instead of just in style (which I really appreciated in the original, btw), however, classic Sonic fans must also be open minded and willing to try something different.
Alright, now onto the actual topic! It's really unfortunate recent Sonic games have suffered from low quality and lots of projects overseen by SEGA are rushed out to market, but I still feel that they pump out a relatively decent amount of quality content, especially in Japan, exclusively. But yes, the rushed games are definitely tiresome and really unprofessional, SEGA needs to change things up.
