Next major issue: Adam won't stop whining!!

@Adam: there's multiple 'adam's in the system, just like Luke from the other day, and in the core system _you've_ always been Adam12 (at least as long as i've been a moderator and have been able to notice these things, lol). You're not the only user with oddities going on with their name in the system, lol :3

TBD, I'm pretty sure there are not multiple users with the same user name -- and certainly not twelve of them. I don't understand what you're getting at.

I assumed it's just a no longer used name referring to the TV show Adam-12. I only brought up the issue again because it was related and because my name suddenly was working right again, which made me happy.

Who's Luke, and why do I care? Terrible name. Nothing like Adam.

@Adam: you don't understand -- on the surface, you're the only current Adam running around, but there have been multiple users in the past using Adam or some permutation thereof involving punctuation. Behind the scenes, you're 'Adam12', but on the surface (viewable to normal users) you're Adam. this guy is 'adam9', for example, and this guy is 'adam5'. idk why you're number 12, but that's how it goes, i suppose :3

You seem a bit irritated, would you like for me to embed a picture of a horse to calm you down, Adam12?

Maybe if we introduced an Eve to the system we could achieve an equilibrium. Worth a shot.

So anyone with the word "adam" in his name is automatically recognized and lumped together with me? That seems entirely random. How does the system know that "weirdadam" isn't a name? What if someone had the name "madam", would they be turned into an adam## because "adam" is in the name? Why organize names like that anyway? I don't see how that works. I'm sticking with conspiracy theory.

I see. So the system refers to me as Adam12 internally. Posts as Adam. But if I edit or quote that post, it reverts to the name "Adam", and Adam1 must be "weirdadam", so the system thinks the display name is the internal name.

I'm still very curious as to why it does this renaming in the first place. Why pick apart screen names and identify real life names, then reidentify and reorganize them? What use does that serve? I know it's not going by my "Real Name" because I put my "Real Name" on my profile as Chicken Brutus.
