In the past dozen years? Wow. That's quite the stretch of time.
Of the main series platformers, Sunshine is definitely the worst. Of the Kart series, Double Dash. Of the spinoffs... take your pick of the Mario Party titles.
Super Mario Land. To me, the game just pales in comparison to Super Mario Bros. Not to mention, control is slippery most times, and playing on a normal Game Boy is quite dangerous for the eyes, because everyting is way too small [most recommended to play on Super Game Boy and Game Boy Player]. Of course, that's just me, and I honestly can't think of another worst Mario game. [Just in case, pulls out very potent shield umbrella LV. 150 to escape all the flaming, which I don't like]
Sunshine is a great game, there's no doubt about it. I think people slam it because it's a Mario game, and looking at what came before and after (64 and Galaxy) it just doesn't hold up as well. If it was any other character, it'd be a phenomenal game.
Super Mario Land is over 12 years old, so it doesn't necessarily count for what the OP asked.
I have to say take your pick of the Mario Party games, all of them just remind me of Madden, the same game everytime! However the worst Mario Platformer is not Sunshine, its got to be Super Mario Land! (Prepares for Flames) However the worst Mario game without a doubt is Hotel Mario!
mario party advance sucks butt it wasnt a party game or any genre mad thus far all you did was move around and try to complete boring games against dumb CPUs
