Topic: Why do Nintendo series get so much fan art?

I've noticed that compared to most big games on Sony and Microsoft systems, Nintendo's games get the most fan art. Go on Deviant Art and you'll find many fan drawings for Zelda, Fire Emblem, and Smash Bros. That's not to say there aren't PS/XB games that get fan art, there's definitely some for Mass Effect, but it seems like Nintendo's games get the most.

Because Nintendo's been around longer than the Sony and Microsoft systems, meaning they have a larger catalogue to draw from and a greater number of artists who are familiar with the games.

I can imagine a few good answers. I think the big one is that Nintendo treats games as art, which brings in the artsy types, so it gets commissioned and doodled a lot. Also nostalgia. Also XBOX games are bland

Here you go TheMisterManGuy. Here is what you wanted to hear. Have you had your fill for the day?

No? Okay. I love animation! How about now?

⬇︎ @TheMisterManGuy I don't disagree with your opinions. It just seems that many of your question threads are created for the purpose of confirming the same idea about Nintendo fans vs. PSbox fans: that the former are creative, open-minded animation fans and that proportionately not as many of the latter are.

And the answer has been the same every time: Sure.

I will now attempt to give an answer to this question, to justify my presence in this thread. In the case of fan art, more Nintendo fans are likely to draw it because more of them have an attitude of, “I absolutely adore that series! It contributed to the person I am today!” rather than, “That is a fun series that I enjoy playing often.” And more Nintendo fans are the young “creative” type (make of this what you will) as opposed to the young “actually does stuff” type, and I believe more of the former make fan art. This ties back into the kiddiness topic as well, since the former often has more of an inclination towards family-friendly media as well. That is my stereotype-filled answer, hopefully it is not too far off the mark.

No, I'm just asking a question. If you dissagree with my opinions, that's ok.

I was totally joking anout the Xbox comment, by the way. Just that Nintendo tends to have more vibrant colors making the average Xbox game look bland and gross in comparison. "We need more brown in this yellow! It's not gritty enough!"

but to be serious, because Nintendo's characters have been around a long, long time and people have a big connection to them.

The company has been making games for 30 years. Even people that have never played a Nintendo system know who Mario is.

Not that this is particularly important, but Nintendo has been in the gaming industry for 41 years and making their own games for 38. And considering they started by making playing cards, gaming was never foreign to them. Not even when they started 126 years ago. (The reason this isn't important is because Mario was their first truly recognizable character and he didn't really hit true fame until SMB. But yeah.
