The chances of this happening are slim to none, even though a state HAS split before [Virginia and West Virginia]. Also, secession is never going to happen, the Civil War is proof of that.
This is totally unrealistic. It's kind of the complete opposite of the debate here in the Netherlands, where some leading politicians are pretty serious about fusing whole provinces together.
