Yes, people, a county in Arizona is trying to gain stateship, calling themselves Baha Arizona. What do you guys think?

It says in the article that Arizona wants to secede while "Baja Arizona" wants to become its own state. That would make the amount of states remain at 50.
Also, this article is full of crap. Come on, people. "In Maricopa the major concerns are how to harrass Mexicans, and how to gut the budgets of the state university system so they don’t have too many smart people to disagree with Maricopa County politicians." "Nor would Baja Arizona waste anynes time trying to eliminate citizenship for people born in our state." "Rumors are that a group has formed to seriously attempt to free Baja Arizona from the crazies up north."
This isn't the kind of stuff you should wright in a news article, no matter how liberal you are.

Baja Arizona would have less people than Wyoming

I wouldn't mind a 51th states in Puerto Rico/Washington D.C., but we don't need another state that splits from another state a la the two Virginia states. Expect a lot of conflicts if that occurred.

Arizona isn't going anywhere, I would think. And separate statehood for Baja Arizona? That's about as likely as Long Island gaining statehood.

If we're gonna get a 51st state, let's build it. Let's just tack some dirt onto the side of the US and make Dirtucky. I'll run it if no one else wants to.

Washington DC cannot be a state on its own since its the Captial of the US. Something in the agreement when they made Washington DC the capital of the US states thats. As for Puerto Rico I would expected them to become a state before anywhere else does.

As for this whole Baja Arizona thing its probably just a rumor they have been saying the same thing about California for years now that they should split it into 3 states Northern, Central and Southern.

Having lived in Arizona a few years back I can certainly say it helps. Especially in the summer.
