RR529

In no particular order (one per franchise).

  • Zelda: Twilight Princess (GCN)
  • Final Fantasy X (PS2)
  • Kingdom Hearts II (PS2)
  • Super Mario World (SNES)
  • Metroid Fusion (GBA) †
  • Red Dead Redemption (360)
  • Tales of the Abyss (3DS) †
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis)
  • Dragon Quest V (Android) †
  • Portal (360)

† - I find Super Metroid (SNES), Tales of Vesperia (360), & Dragon Quest VIII (3DS) to be equal to the entries I chose, they just got the edge because I played them first.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Here's a quick list. I've not put much thought into it, so there will be things I've forgotten. Order is too hard for me, and will change anyway depending on my mood. Also, only adding 1 game per franchise.

  • 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors (DS) (Virtue's Last Reward is also deserving of my list, and I reallllly need to get round to playing the 3rd Zero Escape game)
  • Pokemon Soul Silver (DS)
  • Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (3DS)
  • Tomb Raider The Last Revelation (PS1)
  • The Hobbit (PS2)
  • Pac-Man World 2 (PS2)
  • The Sims Bustin' Out (PS2)
  • Portal 2 (PC)
  • GTA San Andreas (PC) (choosing between that and Vice City was a hard choice)
  • Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360)

(Sigh, I've already thought of 10 things? Professor Layton Miracle Mask and Ratchet and Clank 2 should definitely be in my top 10 as well, but I don't know where to put them)

Edit: I forget Zelda Ocarina of Time

Hmmm, the Switch is actually my first Nintendo console - but I played the bejeebers out of my housemate's N64 back in the day. Otherwise it's been mainly Amiga, Sega, PC, Sony and iOS till now. All time top 10, in no particular order, and with the understanding that I can go back and change it whenever I want...

The World Ends With You (iOS - I did say the Switch was my first Nintendo, and the mobile version is sublime)
Arkham Asylum (PS3 - nothing in the later games tops the first Scarecrow meeting)
Final Fantasy VII (PS1 - my introduction to the series)
Breath of the Wild (Switch)
Ocarina of Time (N64)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1)
Fallout 3 (PS3)
God of War (PS2)
Sensible World of Soccer (Amiga - more hours spent playing this than probably all the other games put together - with the possible exception of...)
...Championship/Football Manager (Amiga/PC/iOS - now banned from my life for undue theft of time)

Shout outs to Dragon Quest 8, FF: Crisis Core, Vagrant Story (just bumped for Fallout 3), Goldeneye (multiplayer...), Syndicate, Civilisation, 868-HACK, nearly all of the LucasArts P&Cs and, on the Amstrad CPC 464, Bard's Tale.

And no, I've not played Chrono Trigger (yet), which is why it's not on my list..

@BlueKnight07 Yeah, can't argue any of those points. I actually missed free aim when I booted up SF643D the other day. As in, I actually went and played Zero instead. Wasn't expecting that to happen.

@MarcelRguez I know what you mean. I was able to play fine through most of it using tilt aim and not looking at the Gamepad all that much. I really wish a "Director's Cut" would make it to the Switch with extra levels/content, but I'm probably asking too much.

What_Sthat

10. Breath of Fire III
9. Phantasy Star Online
8. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
7. Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon
6. Persona 5
5. Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation
4. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages
3. Chrono Trigger
2. Final Fantasy IX
1. The Legend of Dragoon

Kinda still undecided where Breath of the Wild goes and Persona 5 is just sorta plugged in but might shift a bit after a cool down period.

Game(s) right now: Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon, World of Final Fantasy Maxima

Not 10, or in order, but
Dragon Quest 8 is number 1.
Then, in no order:
Paper Mario
Paper Mario:TTYD
Persona Q
The ENTIRE Fire Emblem series.
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Pokemon Crystal
Paper Mario Color Splash

I've probably got more, I just can't think of them off the top of my head. I'll add more if I can remember them.
Honorable mentions to Dragon Quest 5, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions.

Ya know, for being Nintendo's worst selling console, Wii U is home to about half of my favorite games of all time. A moment of silence for the Wii U, shall we. It didn't have many games, but it sure had a few top-quality gems.

1 Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
2 Zelda Breath of the Wild
3 Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
4 Fire Emblem Path of Radiance
5 Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
6 Lost Odyssey
7 Xenoblade Chronicles X
8 Splatoon
9 Pikmin 3
10 F-Zero GX

There's so many good games I've played though, that deserve a mention

  • Persona 5 and Persona 4 Golden
  • Shin Megami Tensei IV and SMT IV Apocalypse
  • Final Fantasy X
  • Super Mario Galaxy and Mario Galaxy 2
  • Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn and FE Awakening and FE Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
  • Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
  • Super Mario Maker
  • Xenoblade Chronicles
  • Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
  • Zelda Windwaker and Zelda Twilight Princess and Zelda Skyward Sword
  • Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2
  • The Last Story
  • Portal and Portal 2
  • Dark Souls trilogy
  • Ori & the Blind Forest
  • Metal Gear Solid V
  • The Witcher 3
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Nier Automata
  • Valkyrie Chronicles
  • PSVR Worlds (London Heist) no game has impressed me more than this one... ever

choosing 10 is borderline impossible (5 or 20 is ok) but I'll try

-Metroid Prime
-Super Smash Bros. Melee
-Mother 3
-Paper Mario
-Star Fox 64
-Yoshi's Island
-Halo 2
-World of Goo
-Banjo Kazooie
-Xenoblade Chronicles

So like normally the bottom half of this list would be a tie with a bunch of other games but I decided that
-The two Zelda games I can't choose between so I took them off
-Beyond Good and Evil is basically Zelda so that too
-I don't like the DKC games quiiiite as much as Yoshi's Island. I guess.
-World of Goo and Halo 2 should all be priority so I'm not a boring Nintendo fanboy.
-Take away the collection games (Sonic Mega Collection and the Orange Box)
-Include Xenoblade because it's the best game I've played this decade (with Shovel Knight being the only one on the same level)
-Banjo Kazooie over Super Mario Galaxy is mostly arbitrary and to avoid 3 games from the same series on here

Non-binary, demiguy, making LPs, still alive

It is hard to pick only 10 games but I'd say

1) Super Mario Galaxy 1
2) Endless Ocean 2
3) Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion
4) God of war 2
5) Donkey Kong country returns
6) Eternal Darkness
7) WarioWare DIY
8) Soul Calibur 3
9) Zelda Twilight princess
10) 1080° Avalanche

I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee

No particular order:

Sonic the Hedgehog 2
The Legend of Zelda : Ocarina of Time
Mario Kart( tie between original Super Mario Kart, 64, and 8 deluxe)
Fable
Borderlands 2
Super Mario Brothers 3
River City Ransom
Soul Caliber 2
Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild

Switch SW-3961-9294-9210

My top ten games in no particular order are;

Super Smash Brothers series (any/all iterations) (Various platforms)
Phantasy Star Online Episode 1 & 2 (Xbox)
Wrath Unleashed (Xbox)
Blinx 2: Masters of Time and Space (Xbox)
Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (Wii)
Pokémon Mainline series (all generations, Various platforms)
Aliens Vs Predator (PS3)
Bayonetta 1 & 2 (PS3 & Wii U)
Dragons Dogma + Dark Arisen (PS3)
Disgaea 1, 3, 4 & 5 (various platforms)
Splatoon (Wii U)

A few honorable mentions I'd like to include are just the Naruto series games on Wii and PSP specifically. Amazing games that I love so much and had loads of fun with but weren't quite up to snuff on their own (which is probably why I can't remember their names). Great playing them with my friends though - we had days of endless fun.

Never take anything I say seriously. S'all you buddy. ;)
Mainly play on my Switch but I have 3DS, Wii U and PS4 as well.
Fave game series include: Pokemon, Smash Bros, Splatoon, Disgaea, Bayonetta, Dragons Dogma, Phantasy Star & Arena of Valor.

3) Complete Metal Gear Solid Saga: Phantom Pain, Snake Eater, Peace Walker, Portable Ops, Metal Gear Solid, Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 4 (in that order).
4) Dark Souls (just the first) / Demons Souls

I like how two people have 1080 Avalanche in their top 10. Always thought that game was overlooked.

I can't believe how many people have listed Xenoblade Chronicles. Within the Nintendo sphere, that's got to be my most overrated game of the lot.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

NHL 94 (Sega/Mega CD version)
Lunar 2 Eternal Blue (The original Sega CD version. There is just something off with later versions.)
Starflight (Sega Genesis/MD)
Power Mongar (Sega CD)
Panzer Dragoon Series ( Saturn)
Sonic Racing Transformed (Wii U) (My favorite kart racing game of all time.)
Mario Kart Wii (Hands down use to be my favorite Kart game, now second favorite, but still so much fun!)
Pro Wrestling
Contra (basically almost any Konami NES game)
Streets of Rage (Genesis)
Wii Sports/Nintendo Land (recent Nintendo Pack in games. we got so much mileage out of these games)
Legend of Zelda (NES)
Adventure (atari)
Yars Revenge (atari)
NBA Jam
Voltron (PS3)

Basically I thought back to all the games I played and what I put the most time in on each system over the years. In general I do not play sports games, but for some strange reason I have played more hours of NHL 94 than almost anything.
If I was going to add computer games, it would be
Oregon Trail
Airheart
Where in the World is Carmen Santiago

I also spent a long time with the Sim City 2000 on the Saturn.

The whole of Working Designs RPG's on the Sega CD. The Lunar Series and Vay were a great experience for the time. I have very fond memories of playing those 3 games. Especially the Lunar 2 on the Sega CD. The later "complete" version is somehow not as good as the original.

The NES time was so different than nowadays. These days games are a dime a dozen or maybe three dozen and there are so many free ones too. But in the late 80's and early 90's you played the games you had over and over because access to video games was limited. So I played the same games a lot. I remember I was so good at Contra. But today, if you get even slightly board with a game, no big deal, just move on. I remember when my son was alive I could not understand why he did not want to finish every game. But since there were so many games available to him, he just moved on a lot. He had his go to games for sure, but buying a game and finishing it was a low priority. I learned my lesson about selling games to Funcoland, so we kept all the games and never sold one (except Wii Music to buy MK Wii). His list would be different than mine for sure, but there would be some similar games if the list was longer than 10 (ha ha), I would add more games like Hyrule Warriors, or Skylanders too. Even Tatsunoko VS Capcom or Pokken Tournament, or Go Vacation, or Rayman Origins/Legends games would easily been on there.
