Dogs are loyal, loving and do tricks. Cats poo under your desk and pee on your sister's back. Which one do you think I prefer?
Dogs eat their own poo. I don't want to be around anything that does that.
Only dogs that aren't getting enough minerals/vitamins/whatever does that.
I love all animals but I prefer dogs to cats. Dogs are more friendly, more loyal (not saying cats can't be these things too) and are more useful overall. There's guard dogs, police dogs, rescue dogs, etc, but you never see police cats. Sure, there's a cat station master (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tama_%28cat%29) but that's only one cat. You don't need to do anything to earn a dog's trust, since they're pack animals like their wolf ancestors. Just give them lots of TLC.
In truth though, both cats and dogs can be loving creatures. It doesn't matter if one's better than the other. They both make great pets.
The people saying cats are mean and stuff must be doing something wrong because me and my cat Zeus are buddies. He loves to come up on my lap and purr. He also ways greets me with a face rub if my head is at his head level. It's so cute.
After owning both a cat (which came to us in the wilderness) and a dog (which my nephews wanted so badly and got but then gave to us because it was too much work).
Well....
Whenever my cat comes in he ALWAYS ask for food even though there's food on the bowl (i have to walk him to the food bowl every time)and even when he just woke up he asks for food and at the wee hours of the morning. Just hearing him meow over and over just gives me a headache. And he "plays" with my dog to get my attention. My cat is a nuisance.
I have to walk my dog 2-3 times a day. 1 in morning(before i go to school), 1-2 a night. (the second time at night he comes at my computer chair standing at my chair or just stares at me at my room door)He barks at the door whenever someone's or some sound comes at the door.
My dog gets distracted by people whenever we walk and he see's people walk by. And he sometimes eats the cat food from the bowl (and he knows this) and i have to stop him or punish him when he does eat the food. My dog is a troublemaker.
I'm feeling a little bit of déjà vu here... I'll just leave this here as well.
I think you can all figure out my answer from that. Not that cats are bad... Dogs just win me over more.

Cats VS Dogs: An Argumentative Essay
It is one of the most controversial questions: Cats or dogs? Ask any dog lover, and they won’t hesitate to say that dogs are better, but at the same time, a cat lover is bound to support their feline friends. Many people may argue that cats are much smarter than dogs, but scientific studies prove otherwise. I think that dogs are better than cats because they are smarter, friendlier, help people stay healthy, and even save lives.
One reason that I think that dogs are better than cats is that they are smarter. Since both animals are hunters, they have to be smart enough to outsmart their prey. However, their amount of social interaction can have an effect on brain size. According to Stanley Coren, “the social chimpanzees are smarter than the solitary orangutan.” Cats, which hunt alone and tend to be solitary, have proportionally smaller brains than dogs, which hunt in packs and have much more social interaction. Man’s best friend was even able to beat cats at their own game. While dogs are built for speed, cats are better at manipulating things with their paws. However, theweek.com revealed that dogs outperformed cats in a test of pulling strings to get rewards.
Another reason that I think dogs are better than cats is that they are friendlier. Once again, this has to do with brain size. The dog’s larger brain comes from its status as a pack animal. Wild felines, such as tigers, can easily hunt on their own. The much smaller wolf must hunt in a pack to have a better chance of survival. As pets, dogs see their human family as their “pack”. As wolves are loyal to their pack, domestic dogs are loyal to their family. Cats, on the other hand, descended from animals that could hunt successfully alone, which is why they tend to be more independent. In fact, cats mainly stay with humans because being fed is easier than having to hunt.
Yet another reason that I think dogs are better than cats is that they help people stay healthy. First of all, when cats need to go to the bathroom, they relieve themselves in a litter box. However, dogs must be walked daily in order to go to the bathroom. This not only provides exercise for the dog, but also for its owner. While many cat toys are designed so that a cat can play with them by itself, such as a scratching post or catnip mouse, dog toys require energy from the dog’s owner as well. For example, a dog’s owner must throw a ball in order to play fetch and pull on a rope toy to play tug of war. Walking a dog can also help make new friends, including fellow dog owners.
Finally, in what may be the most important reason that dogs are superior to cats, dogs can help save lives. Search and rescue dogs such as St. Bernards are famous for locating and rescuing people trapped under snow. Many blind people depend on seeing-eye dogs to help them get around, including across streets. Dogs can even be trained to sniff out bombs, saving many lives in the process. However, the kindness of dogs is not limited to humans. Dogs have been known to “adopt” young animals such as squirrels and even pigs, caring for them as if they were their own puppies.
In conclusion, I think that dogs are better than cats in many ways, and not just as pets. This is because they are smarter, friendlier, healthy and very helpful. While cats tend to be independent and keep to themselves, dogs are usually providing an unlimited supply of affection for their friends. While cats are out hunting wild birds, dogs are being trained to save lives. Though these two iconic pets are both loved by many, I think that, in the end, dogs come out on top.
Dogs! End of thread.
Cats are lazy piles and almost act as if they are in control of the owner at times. Spoiled little pieces of....

I posted this in the other thread and my answer is still:
Dogs.
Cats are dang lazy unless it's for something to their benefit. Dogs, in my experience, seem happier to just wake up in the morning. Also, I love the loyalty of dogs. Mine comes up to me whenever he thinks something is wrong with me and he's usually right!
