It's got a nice big screen, all the buttons you need, a long battery life, it's got Sony behind it, paying some of the most talented devs to make games for it, which are cheap!
I'm glad they're not releasing this budget version in USA, because clearly Americans don't like good handlheld games consoles.
Because it ONLY has Sony behind it. Besides a few really good RPG what does the PSP have? The 3rd party support is atrocious. And us Americans do like great handheld systems... They are from Nintendo and they have tons of 3rd party support and fun games.
Well, there are more Warriors games on the PSP than the DS. And more dating games, if you have access to the Japanese PSN.
The PSP was successful in Japan more than America because it attracted the Japanese 3rd party developers. Most of those games were never translated. The Western support of the PSP was absolutely terrible - with pretty good reason. PSP games didn't sell well in the US, even though the console itself sold ok.
Hackers ruined the PSP (via piracy). The same thing happened with the DS, yet developers still supported it.

A PSP model without WiFi? But wouldn't that mean that the PSP model can't get to the PSN store at all? Or am I missing something because I don't know s#%! about Sony's gaming consoles/handhelds?

While your comments are witty enough, are you actually going to contribute to a conversation at all JumpMad? Last time I checked you only spew out slightly witty puns as if you're some brainless hack who doesn't want to be a troll but is undeniably on the edge.

Thank you, good sir. Then my reaction to this is what?! Why would Sony remove a pretty big feature of their handheld? To me that just seems extremely stupid. Then again, the Vita is going to be in consumer hands by early 2012, so Sony probably doesn't care about the PSP anymore and is wondering if they'll be able to make more money off of it even while the Vita is on store shelves.

There is still MediaGo isn't there. And connecting to the PS3 and the store through that.

You access the PSN Store on your PS3/PC and then transfer the games to your PSP. So not really a problem as long as you have a PS3 or a PC. I have a PSP 3004, but i never download games straight to my PSP because it takes much longer than using the other methods. Thus, you aren't losing very much with no Wifi.

This. I have a PSP Go and it's twice as fast to download a 1- 2 GB game through PC.

Why sir! I am offended that you would even think that my "short yet brief" comment did not justified for this whole thread. Strip away the restrictions of law and common decency, and it become clear that U are just Mad.

It's so embarrassing and disappointing to see Sony stoop to this level. I'm still in shock as to that they are ACTUALLY releasing this lower grade PSP. Why not simply go on and release the PSVita instead of forcing us to keep holding our breathe till the end of the year?

The PS Vita is coming out next year. Japan gets it this year.

But Nintendo would NEVER stoop to such a level. They would NEVER release a niche product so close to a whole new generation of consoles.
