Topic: Pokemon Ruined my Relationship

So I have been dating this girl, Erica, for a few weeks. Things were going great, we would go to dates a few times a week. We got along perfectly, we have the same sense of humor would joke and laugh all the time. We even had one of those nights where you stay up all night just talking and the next thing you know the suns coming up. It was beautiful. Until yesterday........

I am driving her home and I reach to the back seat to grab a CD case. Well, I guess my boxers were riding up a bit and she catches peek of them. Then this conversation happens,

"Oh is that a cartoon character on your boxers?"
"Yeah it's Pikachu."
"A Peek-a- what now?" [looks confused]
"You never heard of Pikachu? The cute little yellow mouse Pokemon? Seriously?"
"Pokemon? Are you f***ing kidding me? That game is for little kids. Why do play that baby crap?"
"Wow, ok. You clearly don't know anything about the game. It's an RPG with a deep and complex battle system. It's hardly baby."
"I don't even know what an RPG is J.R. but I hardly think that justifies a grown man playing little kid games" [looks condescendingly]
"I can't believe you are judging me on this. I told you I was gamer." [getting mad]
"I thought you meant you played those shooting games like other guys do not some kid games. That's just weird"
[pulls over car]
"Get out. Now."
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah, get out. It's been fun but this isn't gonna work between us. So bye." [dead serious look]
"Whatever. I can't believe you." [slams door and walks off raged]

I know it was bit of an over-reaction on part but I think I did the right thing. She only had to walk ten blocks home so I figure she was cool. We haven't talked since either, obviously. She clearly wasn't the girl for me. If you can't handle my gaming you can't handle me and I'm sure as hell not gonna deal with a woman who looks down on me for it. Anyway that's my crazy story. It was a lesson learned for me in the sense that I need to explain clearly how important video games are to me earlier on. Hope it somehow helps you guys as well.

tl;dr: Girl didn't like that I played Pokemon so I dumped her.

Lesson, leave your boxers at home.

well i guess no body heard of compermise but your choice either way as a gamer "though i take on a new hobby on working out and training as well" dont really understand how gaming can be an important part of anyones life in general i always thought the women would be more important at least on my part i would just forgive her or just ingore it and not let it get in the way of whats good already going on between the two

It's not just Pokemon, just the way she responded. (From the way he said it). There was a clear lack of respect IMO. that I think would have got a bit rougher down the road.

So she didn't even recognize Pikachu but still says that Pokémon is for kids... Had she ever even played, watched, read Pokémon? Can she say this because she had just heard others saying that?
I know the anime is childish but the games are very far away from that. And manga is more serious stuff with Pokémon and people actually dying.
And if someone really loves another then he/she wouldn't mind so little things... That's just plain stupid...

I know as a gaming website, we are more likely to understand this but... even if it wasn't Pokemon or game related... you can see that her way of thinking was not going to be agreeing with yours.

Simple, don't wear video game characters on your draws dude. I wouldn't want to date a a woman wearing Strawberry Shortcake underwear. Woman don't care if you play video games, I know because I am married to a woman that is a not a big fan of video games, just dont wear them on your draws. A shirt is one thing to have something video game related but not there man, woman like to think there man is a man, not a kid (and that is what pikachu would portray) under his clothes.

I think she was a bit put off because of your boxers. Anything kiddy in underwear is a lust killer for most women (and men). However her answer to you considering Pokemon as a game and "other guys playing shooting games" was incredibly annoying.

Or he can find someone else who won't give a damn what he is wearing. RIGHT J.R??
