@Rensch: Haha, same goes for you. Seems not many people know about the CK series, but they're really quite amazing games.
Okay, an exploration game won't very well work out-doors, so into an old abandoned mine we go.
The cave tiles were (somewhat obviously) inspired by Cave Story. Also note that the game is now on the bridge between 8-bit and 16-bit. I'd like the character to look a tad more 16-bit, but what'ev. Going to play around with his colors a little bit, then start animating, and when that's done I'll merge the art with my code. I should have a playable Flash demo by the end of this weekend - if all goes well. :3
That seriously looks perfect, Pix. Now code the game already!
I don't just say that because I want to see you finish a game, either. I like the bright, distinct colors. The cave tiles look great. And the dimensions look just right.
@Adam: I actually agree with you. I'm really happy with both the sprite AND cave tiles this time, and I have ideas for two other tilesets that should mix it up nicely. (Sandy rock and lava rock)
and yes, I'm animating the sprite and when it's done I'll start coding again!
looks good, pix, i'm looking forward to playing the final version. though i do think and exploration game can certainly be done outdoors, i do agree, it would be more difficult. anyway, i'm digging (get it? it's in a cave?? digging??? ugh... ) the art direction. keep it up.
