Anyone have a passion for pixelart like I do? If you've made or seen anything awesome, throw it up here. I'll start by posting some of my own:

Next one I will do is going to have that monochromatic Game Boy look including gameplay elements lifebars and maybe points...

Inspired by some Game Boy shmups like Solar Striker

This one got upscaled from a tiny 200x150 original. Every single pixel was set with love

bump reworked it a little:

  • lives are now all black
  • removed "satalite" enemies
  • added background like stars and a planet

Woah, that's really cool. Very GameBoy-esque.

How about a second example of your work ?

Sure, maybe sometime later today. I'm working on concept art for an action-rpg-adventure-platformer.

Well, all I got for you are some sprites. Here they are:

So is this pixelart program expensive? I really like what I see so far.

@Turbo+Genesis+64: The awesomeness of pixelart is that you don't need fancy tools to make it. Everything you see on here can be made with Windows XP's paint program. I personally use The Gimp, which is free, open source, and available on pretty much every platform in existence.

Here's a great pixelart tutorial by Derek Yu:

NintendoLife should hold a competition where you draw a scene from a Nintendo video game.

Ask and you will receive. Here's some Princess Daisy fanart I did this morning:

You'll probably recognize it, I used her pose from Mario & Sonic at the Olympics as a model.

Edit: Here's a new improved version. Black outlines are gone, and I added antialiasing.

Great stuff. Daisy looks very cute!

I haven't had a chance to check out the link you posted yet, but I was wondering if you need significant artistic talent to do this kind of stuff?

Anyways, I don't want to put any pressure on the pixelman, but I hope we get to see some more pixelart from you and SeniorDingDong.

Well, I've been drawing for nearly four years now. It requires practice, and talent most definitely helps.

Here's some more 8-bit goodness.

That's sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Sort of like a ninja / Zelda vibe I get from it.

So pixelman, how long did it take you to make that?
