Topic: Most Frightening RPG Boss Ever

Dark Lich from Seiken Densetsu 2/Secret of Mana. Words cannot describe how nervous I felt upon reaching him for the first time and hearing his theme music play in the background. Not even Lavos' second form from Chrono Trigger is scary enough to count!

I have never had an RPG or any game for that matter frighten me.

Dang, there are several I can think of, but not off the top of my head. Let's see.....probably the ghoul on the phantom ship in Baten Kaitos. It's been a while since I played that game but I remember getting chills from that place.

You wanna see creepy? Try Giygas from Earthbound, whos second form is a fetus, and the whole point of the battle is to "abort Giygas"
and the music still gives me nightmares, especially when he gets defeated
"You cannot grasp the true form of Giygas' attack!"

not gonna lie: Kefka and his four forms creeped me right the eff out the first time i beat FFVI. holy crap. :/

yeah in ff4, you start out as a dark knight and you need to fight your soul to become a paladin. is really hard since your have the same stats and what not

@briunji04: You make it sound like you think you're actually supposed to ATTACK Dark Cecil. You DO know all you have to do is sit still and wait a couple turns for the battle to end itself...right?

Also...I'll put in my vote for Zeromus, mostly because that jerkwad is freaking HARD! What ultra-powerful boss you'll probably attempt to beat at LEAST five times WOULDN'T scare the crap out of you? Actually, I guess that's more nervous frustration than fear. I dunno.

I can't name any RPG bosses I've seen that have scared me. Chaos from FF1 was pretty freaky, I guess.

But Zelda is an RPG. An action-oriented one at that. It's not just turn-based battles, you know. No offense, just saying.

No it isn't. It's an action-adventure game. RPGs have experience points and character growth. Zelda does not.

Well, some call it an RPG. Some don't. I guess it's one of nature's balance of life (what to believe vs. what not to believe). If you don't think it's an RPG, that's fine. I won't hold it against you.
