I carry my 3DS with me about everywhere to get StreetPasses and Coins. At the moment i could only play it during my lunch breaks but i prefer actually eating something instead.

I've seen an old guy playing a dsi xl in public before, looked about 40-50 yrs old. I also see alot of kids with DS systems (how do u say DSs? Dses? they just dont sound right to me) but at college i've seen a few people around my age with 3DS systems.

Whoah, whoah, whoah...40-50 years old...OLD GUY? Well, that's insulting to us in that range!!

I hate playing my 3DS in public, for one the screen looks horrible in direct sunlight and shows up dust and scratches very easily along with the occasional glare because of the shine. I also don't play it publicly because I get some really weird looks and get a lot of crap because of it. Meh... yeah you go play with your Temple Run on your massive ass phone.

I just don't think Nintendo can get away from its "child" image its given itself. All you ever get is you should buy a Vita, DS' are for children, the 3DS is just a DS re-model, handhelds are for weirdo's, iPhone is amazing, Vita pwns all... please grow up.

I've only ever seen one Vita being played in my area and he looked as happy as a 5 year old being given lettuce as a substitute for chocolate.

All I ever see is.....
Ipods - 75%
Ds/Dsi - 15%
PSP - 5%
3DS - 5%

I have a seen a few people at my local community college with 3DS' and manage to get at least 5-7 Street Passes while in school. My favorite game to play is: "Try to spot which person belongs to their Mii." Odd enough, however, I see somebody on the bus everyday playing a Vita. I am still baffled by how people call the 3DS childish, especially considering it is getting a more mature lineup, as opposed to the DS that is.

(When I refer to my friends in this particular post, unless otherwise stated, I'm referring to my friends I know face-to-face offline.)

Sadly, when I walk around stores in my area, & still when I less rarely go elsewhere(way out of my area), ppl(mostly teens, & younger) are carrying those mobile text devices that have what I assume is a full-fledged flip keyboard. Most ppl in my age-range(I forget the actual term for ppl w/in a few years of my age, mainly younger, but also including older), have smartphones. These ppl might play, like in a recent instance, Let's Draw, or what/e it's called. & when one starts, I find at least one other of my friends playing it, like it's a new trend. The closest I know of to one of my friends wanting to play a 3DS was a friend of mine, this past Christmas, said he wanted to sign his son's 3DS gift tag to himself, & his son, as a joint Christmas gift from "santa", after he tried it out. If there's/there is/are other 3DS owners, &/or lovers among this group of my friends, I'm unaware of it

As for consoles, this group of my friends doesn't really play video games, save for one, or two, who might very rarely, play their kid's XB360.

Well when I'm at college I get a bunch of streetpasses and I even tend to find new people I never streetpassed before almost every other week. All I do when I walk around is keep an eye out just in case by some miracle I spot someone with their 3DS out, not that much luck so far.

Well I don't because the 3DS has a serious glare issue.

I see someone with a 3DS every now and then, but not often.
But that's not too bad considering I've rarely ever seen anyone playing a DS/DSi and I don't know if I've ever even seen someone playing a PSP in public.
Personally, I play my 3DS on the train every day.

I've only seen the 3DS being played at restaurants, oddly enough.
I don't know, I just find that rude...

I never see any handheld games in public. Especially PSPs. Kinda funny. I honestly get portable devices to play it in various locations in the house.

In middle school I saw a DS on the bus occasionally. When I was in high school, though, every Thursday morning we had something called "late start" and I played DS in the library with 4 or 5 people.

In college, on campus, I've seen a DS two times over the past 3 years.

Are people seriously talking about public embarrassment? I sing in my car.

I knew a person in high school who had a PSP, but that's the only time I've personally seen one (except on TV. Whenever they have someone playing a portable game system on TV, 9 times out of 10 it was a PSP for some reason, although nowadays it's all smartphones). Quite a bit of people had DSs, but that changed during my senior year when the first iPod Touches started coming out (that was the big deal then). Just walking around in public, I've saw a few DSs over the years, but not recently. As for 3DSs, I get a few streetpasses a month, but I never see anyone with them out (except someone had one at our Super Bowl party).

Currently Playing:

PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

The only time I ever saw someone playing anything in public, it was a little girl walking while playing with her DSi at a Waltmart.

I carry my 3DS with me all the time, but I rarely play with it in public... Mostly because I don't want someone to mug me.

Hmm... mostly I would assume a lot of the 3DS owners are children who play them only at home (when they're out of the house there's more interesting things for them to do), and they carry them outside the house only for streetpass.

However, perhaps there are people from my generation (college aged) that have them and are ashamed to show them? I mean, I go to a tech school, and not once EVER have I seen anyone playing a 3DS on campus (other than myself, which I do quite often). Yet I am certain there are students there with 3DS systems, because I get anywhere from 3 to 10 streetpasses a day (which 10 is the max the gate can hold, meaning there may have been more). Granted, some are the same Miis repeatedly, though there is quite a number of different Miis I've found on campus. (The nice thing about the college is that there are tens of thousands of students, many from different states or even countries.) There are no young children at the schools, so clearly the Miis belong to my generation. Perhaps the average college student is ashamed to show they play a Nintendo handheld? I mean, by looking at the last games played, I know most are playing E rated games, and maybe they want their peers to not think they play "kids games"... however, the fact that there are clearly other students playing 3DS systems should be enough for them to admit it.

But I digress. I've no shame admitting I'm a Nintendo fanboy. I have a PSP and a 360, along with other older non-Nintendo systems, and I won't say Nintendo is better or worse than other companies, they just happen to be my favorite.

So I guess people really love PSPs in my town because I've seen them all over the place since they came out. I'm surprised no one else sees PSPs anywhere.

College is where I get most of my streetpasses.
I have already gotten 80 streepasses and counting, and thanks to those who own 3DSes there, I have completed nearly some my puzzles.
I still wish that streetpasses should be done online, maybe then it can be more enjoyable.

Where I live I don't see that many people playing dedicated handhelds only their Apple products. I HATE playing my 3Ds in direct sunlight the DSi I could play in the sun this one I can't. So I usually play my Neo Geo Pocket Color or maybe Gameboy Advance Sp, let them give me their weird looks I don't mind it one bit.
