So I don't know if this happens where you all live at, but here in my town I see people with PSPs all over the place. If I'm on the public bus, mall or at school people are sitting/walking around playing with their PSPs (I'm guessing since the Vita hasn't really picked up steam yet). What I have noticed though is that I never see anyone playing with a 3DS or DS out in public and that bothers me. What bothers me is that I know people have 3DS systems because I streetpass people so why do they hide them? I feel like I'm the only weirdo who's not afraid to play my 3DS wherever I am. IDK does this happen anywhere else?
I sorta feel like you too, except I never see anyone with any system except I see iPod Touches everywhere. I have an iPod Touch, so I don't really care. I usually don't get too many streetpasses, but it's still odd I never see anyone with them out. Maybe, idk, 3 people out of the twentysomething people I've ppassed I've seen their 3DS. Of course, recently it's been weird that I've streetpassed people while in my car...
OK, OK, joking aside, it does seem a bit odd. Since the DS has sold twice as much as the PSP it would only seem logical that you'd notice them more often. With that said, where I live, I never see anyone playing a dedicated gaming portable in public (besides myself of course).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Like 3Dangerous3Dash, I only see people playing on idevices in public but I get street passes more often than I used to but I don't see people with them out but then again, I only occasionally play mine on the bus.
Maybe PSP owners play the systems more than 3DS owners do, its been out a lot longer so has much more games at least I presume that's why they would be more noticeable.
Yeah idevices are all over the place but I notice alot of PSPs all over the place, I think I've only seen one person with a Vita. Sometimes I wonder if people think they will seem childish playing a Nintendo handheld out in public so they decide to hide it. The people I streetpass with, I tend to streetpass with daily (and I mean a couple of people not just a few) and so far I've never seen anyone playing with a 3DS yet.
The cat's the only cat who knows where it's at.

Yeah. It happens here in West Virginia. I hardly EVER streetpass with anyone even. No one around here owns a 3DS except for me it seems. But we sure have our Sony fans.

I did have a guy at Subway laugh and say "You don't see that very often" and I asked what. He said "A grown man playing one of those". I was sitting there playing my 3DS. I guess he was trying to be funny or something. The more I talked to him the more I think he was about a couple quarters short of a dollar in the brain area, if you know what I mean...

I don't take my 3DS out in public that much, but it really has nothing to do with the 3DS itself. I wouldn't really take out a 3DS, iPhone or PSP on a Subway or a Bus unless I felt particularly comfortable as I'd be worried otherwise about it getting stolen.
i don`t know what to make of it really. is it just that some people either don`t know how to use the street pass feature, or is that some people just don`t care. i could understand if somebody thought that passing info from one 3DS to another might be breaching privacy, but who really is going to store personal information onto a games conesole, no one that`s who. i know we`re only just over a year in with the 3DS, but still, i would have thought that street passing other 3DS owners would become alot more popular than it already is.
I see kids with DSes/DSis all. the. time. i also see 3DSes sometimes. i think i've seen a kid playing a PSP maybe once over the past few years.

Yeah. I have seen a couple kids with DSis. I don't think I've seen any actually playing a 3DS yet though....and again, that is kids I'm a 22 year old guy. Now that I think about it, I do feel a little awkward just since a lot of people seem to think it's just a kid thing.

Those days when everyone took their gameboys to school just to trade pokemon and help each other are over. I only see Kids walking around with Ds and psp. About adults playing, I only see them when i go to an indie store or something like that. I play what i play, but for some, being a gamer is a reason to be embarrassed, along with the stereotypes that we all know.
I've seen an old guy playing a dsi xl in public before, looked about 40-50 yrs old. I also see alot of kids with DS systems (how do u say DSs? Dses? they just dont sound right to me) but at college i've seen a few people around my age with 3DS systems.
I am not embarresed by gaming in public, and im mostly a retro gamer so i even play my original gameboy in public. I am who i am. Yes, some people give me funny looks, but on the other hand someone even approached me once and said "cool! i still have one of those and i still play it, i thought i must be the only one!" So did i.
Maybe most people play their portable consoles at home I know I do, barely ever take my 3DS out when I go out for a walk I never really want to take it with me I leave my gaming at home.
You've also got to consider where you live; I get the feeling that most people in Japan would prefer Nintendo, in Europe it's Nintendo and sometimes PlayStation, and in America it's a mix of the three. Just my opinion, I could be totally wrong.
