I'll explain with a little scenario. You've been playing a game for a good half hour or so, and you haven't saved in a while. Suddenly, something unexpected comes up, and you have to leave ASAP. Do you leave the game on before you go, or do you shut it off, in order to keep an accurate track of your game time?
Personally, I'd shut the game off. For some reason, I like to track my progress by seeing how long I played. What about you guys?
I'm working on a game that's coming out soon! Cipher Trailer
I'd leave it on because I don't wanna redo the last half-hour of progress. You won't believe how many minutes I've played ESIII: Morrowind without saving.

If i can quickly save i will and turn it off, but while playing Metroid Prime this situation did come up and I generally pushed the HOUSE button and then just left it on that so i could come back and just push close
Feel free to add me and contact me
Darn you Nintendo, my backlog is already out of control and you are just making it worse with these new game announcements!!!!
If I can save, I'll turn it off. Otherwise, I'll leave the game on the HOME menu and turn my TV off.
Same here
There no contest to beat the Game Fast, I left my Pokemon Game on, when i have to go somewere, and I have a Time of 999.99. Thats the Max
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
If you leave the game on the HOME screen, the Wii will still keep track of the time, but the game wont.
Hence why my Mario Kart gametime on the NC is about 1500 hours.

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
I'm a perfectionist, a completionist, and everything has to be in order, so yes, I care. I once accidentally left Mario RPG on while I took a nap and I came back 5 hours later and it was still on, which pissed me off, because now all my gameplay records are off. Also, the time on the NC is not exactly accurate, I found out, and not just because it accounts for the amount of time on the Home Menu. Some games I KNOW I played more than 3 times, and others I can account for more hours than it shows on the NC just by remembering how long I played.

What pisses me off more with the NC is that some of the games I've plugged the most time into it doesn't even recognise.
I've spent around 20 hours with Wii cricket (a lot by my standards), and it doesn't even show up. Neither does 2K Basketball and Bigs baseball. Or Sim City Creator. Or Ju On.
Oh, and for some weird reason, Picturebook Games, a WiiWare download, it's registered. I've played 15 games of that, Reckon that'd be at least another 10-12 hours not registered.
If the game lacks a pause function I use the Home button - the Wii is great that way. DSi, I close the case, though there's only so much time away for that as the battery will still run down.
I like speedruns when playing a game the second or third time... but I don't care how long the timer runs the first time through.
The first time I play through a game is just to explore and enjoy the whole thing. Obviously this means wasting time looking for secrets or bugs or oddities, and so my time to completion is always longer than it should be.
Timer doesn't matter to me at all. My HG clocks over 100 hours, but I know that about a third of that has been me leaving my DS on the table whilst distracted by other stuff.

That explains so much. I also sometimes get a time for "Other" on my message board log, which I'm still confused about.
If I can avoid letting a timer run, I do, but I am almost always doing something else (or supposed to be doing something else) when I play lately, so it's become almost impossible, and I've begun to care less.
I'll save or quicksave if I can, if not home menu. Besides, I'm not a speed run kinda guy
sup, I will give you advice if you ask. FC: Wii Console:3985-2203-0804-1295 SSBB:0173-0975-3949 MKW:3738-0981-3164 Toribash:3481-69299534 HG-1162-1907-7904 Goldeneye:514439432409
I'm cheap, so I always want to know how long I spend on a game just to see how well I've spent my money. If a game's $20, and it takes me 30 hours to complete, man, what a deal! But I don't care how much I love a game, if it cost me $50, and I'm done in a few hours, I'm pissed.
It's all about getting value for my dollar. Otherwise, I could care less how long it takes to complete. What I'd really like to know is how many hours I've spent in my life on video games.
