As a big enthusiast of blogging, I thought it'd be neat if we got a place for Nintendolife members to share and discuss their blogs! I had a quick look but didn't see any existing threads and as this forum lacks a dedicated search function I'm just going to assume there isn't currently such a thread.
Originally I ran a blog last year that was meant to be a tech/games based blog but I got caught up in other projects and it got forgotten sadly. However last year I decided to have another go at it but this time I decided to get friends (both online and IRL) to help generate content for it. This resulted in a more diverse selection of articles and writing styles and meant more content for the blog that wouldn't involve me writing ten articles a week!
I hope you enjoy reading it and feel free to comment. I'm always looking for new contributors too if anyone is interested. There is currently a competition running to win some free Windows/Mac Games too! -
I can't wait to see some of your guys blogs, going by some of the posts I've read and discussions I've taken part in, I know there's some real potential for some fantastic blogs among Nintendolife's community
@ouenben - thanks. Sure, I'd like to hear some of your feedback, that would be nice. I reviewed the PlayStation version of Glover (the only version of the game I've experienced at the moment), though I cannot help but feel the need to experience the Nintendo 64 original (since I looked up that the latter version got more positive accolades than the PlayStation version). You say your friend and neighbor's brother helped develop the game? That's cool!
Yeah he's a great guy and works at Ubisoft now. He used to work for Blitzgames.
It's a pretty good blog and I can see you've tried to spice up the look of it by using different coloured texts but some of those colours make the text hard to read. In your 'Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow (SNES) Review' I didn't even notice the review rating at the bottom at first.
There also seems to be a variation in text size in reviews and between reviews. I'd recommend keeping a consistent style for your blog that all posts follow: Same Font and text size, just one colour that's easy to read (or if you really want to do your multi-colours only choose colours that work well on that background and use the same pattern each time to give your blog a sense of consistency and make it look more organised.)
Infact the colours could work well to indicate different area's of the reviews such as the paragraph to do with graphics could be one colour and the controls segment another colour.
Also there's a lot of wasted space on the right and left of your articles and as your blog is text heavy it could benefit quite well from a re-format. In the blogger template settings there is an option to adjust the widths of the blog. It would make articles easier to read too.
This is just some helpful suggestions, please don't feel the need to carry them out if you disagree with them.

Thats what your signature is for I thought.
Yeah but you can't discuss someone's blog in a random topic as that would be entirely off topic. Plus many people may just skip over peoples signatures and not think to check out the links within.
I am the owner of a blog/forum website. My staff and I review games for Nintendo systems and post articles of news circulating around the web regarding Nintendo. We have over 130 reviews and hundreds of news articles here at http://www.wiiwarewave.forumotion.com
@ouenben - thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I can see what you mean by your response, so I'll try to keep the text color easier to read in my future reviews. Thanks for the advice. By the way, which of my reviews did you like the most (just wondering)?
@Tasuki, Waltz: It's a very, very fine line to tread. Shameless self-promotion is one thing, but at this time i'm viewing this thread in the spirit of users opening themselves up to feedback and critique on each other's blogs, not pro websites, forums, YouTube channels, etc. Had Ouenben opened this post for the sole purpose of plugging his blog alone (and if he also had a history of namedropping it for no good reason), I would already have shut this post down. Until i'm told otherwise by The Powers that Be, i'm going to let this thread stand.
If you guys have (or if anyone else has) any further questions regarding this decision, please feel free to get in touch with us directly so that this thread can stay on-topic. :3
@Ouenben: No offense, but the explanation as to why we let this thread stand and delete/lock so many others needed to come from one of the moderation team, not you. Next time, please just report any offensive comments and let us handle it. Thank you!
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3

If I were you I'd go back and edit your older reviews too, when you get the time, as any future viewers may read all of your reviews or select certain ones from the past. It wouldn't be a long task either as you'd only be editing the colours not the content. Or you could try experimenting with the blog background colour and see if you can find one that works. White for example may open up more of the colours to be easily read. I'm talking about the post backgrounds by the way not the main background on the blog.
I'll get back to you on that. I've only had the time to read a couple so far.
"I have a gaming blog." It's in my signature, but I'll put a link just in case. Relatively new, I write reviews about the games I play and articles about gaming-related things that interest me, sometimes mainstream news, sometimes not. Check it out and tell me what you think!
@StarBoy Nice blog. Got to agree with ouenben on a few things. I find it's very important thing to make sure your colors have good contrast so the text is easy to read, which is generally white on black, black on white, or rarely, yellow on dark blue etcetera. Something similar. The areas that are blue-on-blue are a tad hard to read, and may strain the eyes of some visitors. Also, I enjoyed reading your Kirby's Dreamland review. Bookmarked your blog.
@Sylverstone Went to your blog, not knowing exactly what to expect, and had quite a few laughs. Good job.
