Picture this. It's been about a year since my parents made us sell our playstation, and 8 year old me is missing his favorite games. It was the spyro the dragon series. I desperately want it back, and find out there is a spyro game for the gamecube, which I have. The game is called the legend of spyro, a new beginning. For the next month, I save up enough money and head to the store. As we step out of the store, I am more excited than I have ever been. I get home and hurriedly pop the disc in. I start playing... Only to find that they changed it completely from what it used to be. Gone is the emphasis on platforming and item collecting, and in with fighting attacks and story. I was not pleased, to say the least. What's your most disappointing game?

I remember having Enter the Dragonfly (Another 6th gen Spyro), boy did I hate that game as a kid...

To answer the question, Final Fantasy XIII. Gone are side quests, Final Fantasy grDE music, character back stories, towns, NPC interaction, actually entering attacks, etc. Basically one giant hallway. The game that killed my hope for the future of my favorite series. I know it's a polarizing game, but that's my 1/50'th of a dollar.

After playing so many awesome preowned game series on my preowned PS2 (Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Tenchu) I got myself a preowned PS3... It was very disappointing to say the least

What a stinker. I started with 7 and played the following ones all the way up to it and stopped dead. I didn't go bak and play the next till years latter. I did go back and play the early ones tho. Oh and Crono Cross. Not a bad game realy but they should have called it anything else. Expecting a successor to the original just caused a big let down.

If I had to choose one, Samba De Amigo's Wii port. It was basically broken.

Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts is up there too, and I went into that game defending it so hard, which apparently means I'm just nostalgia obsessed or some nonsense.

DBZ: Legacy of Goku when I was 11. Reason number 10 why Game Informer sucks, they said this was a good game. That is not opinion, that is lying. Ironically, most of what I've heard is that the sequel is actually good.

the 4th Spyro game. Obvious answer but yeah, it sucks.

Vanquish. Not bad but it relied too much on unfunny intentionally stupid story and cutscenes and a 3rd person shooter cover system in what is supposed to be an arcadey fun shooter.

Magical Starsign: BOOOOORING

Metroid Other M, but mostly because of the defenders' refusal to admit they have no idea what good storytelling is. Before that I was kinda just "eh" on it.

Mole Mania was made by Miyamoto? ...really? You sure?

Nearly every game on a Nintendo system disappointed in 2004 for one reason or another. This is so odd in retrospect but maybe I just started to have standards for actual good gaming (though basically none of these games are "bad" honestly). Regardless:

PM:TTYD and Prime 2: These games are awesome for the record, but the previous games are in my top 5 so they couldn't hope to live up to that. Especially with annoying middle section of the game and awful backtracking, respectively.
Custom Robo: I was an easily amused by Yugioh and Pokemon stories 13 year old and even I knew this story was bland, boring and awful. Gameplay's fine but the story actively hurts the whole experience.
Kirby and the Amazing Mirror: I almost changed my mind on this recently, but it's still not as good as a Metroidvania, more challenging (for Kirby) game could be.
NFL Street: Even games I rented! I didn't get into this at all, which is a shame as NBA Street was so much fun.
Sonic Heroes: This game's only ok even ignoring the annoying health bar filled enemies. It is not the true 3D Sonic, don't know why people think that.
Mario Power Tennis: I think I just really didn't enjoy most of the gimmick level ideas and how much it looked like Nintendo desperately trying to make Mario Sunshine as beloved as previous games.
Megaman: Network Transmission: I've been told that playing this game as a platformer instead of an RPG is a bad idea and why people hated it. That makes sense but I'll be amazed if I get another chance to play it.
Four Swords Adventures: Because I couldn't afford getting multiple GBA-GCN cables.
Phantasy Star Online Episode 3: I am idiot for thinking a PSO card game was worth my time.

What are you doing playing on soulless consoles?

The PS2 is under a pile of old xmas decorations and crap in my garage... The PS3 got booted out onto a pawnshop shelf next to a Xbox 360 and a N64

Sonic Heroes - After playing my friend's copy of Adventure 2: Battle, I rushed to get this. Bad decision.

Sonic & the Secret Rings - A Sonic game where you just play as Sonic? Great! Wait, it automatically moves on it's own, and to advance, you have to replay levels again & again & again & again...

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty - I had just gotten into FPS' with a couple of COD games, and decided to try this out since it was in the bargain bin. Bad idea.

Enter the Matrix - Movie game, 'nuff said.

Mutant Mudds - This isn't a bad game by any means, but after so much hype building it up as the best 3rd party game on eShop, & up to the Nintendo standard quality & vibe, it was really disappointing realizing there was really nothing outstanding about it at all (a good, but generic, paint by numbers platformer).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Metroid Prime - I won't ever understand why this is the best Metroid has to offer or even in the discussion. Its experience comes off as a first attempt compared to its sequels, which would be all right if we were stuck permanently in 2002. I'm not even going to discuss the Gamecube version, because to me, Metroid Prime only became a great experience on the Wii as did its sequel. Creatively, it felt half done, being the first 3D Metroid but sticking to the typical Chozo setting and weapons. In terms of polish, I'm annoyed by how the background for Tallon IV is off from what's visually presented. Somehow there's a highly active ecosystem in spite of a handful of Chozo lore telling me that Phazon is a planetary disaster: "The Great Poison." This disconnect made the atmosphere feel very shallow outside of Pirate facilities, which made the game feel atmospherically lopsided. I'm not a huge fan of the logbook being unorganized either.

Pokémon Pearl - Slow battles can break a Pokémon experience, and I think Game Freak picked up on that as every other main Pokémon game I've played on the DS has much quicker battles especially the Gen. 5 games. While it didn't screw Pearl early on, it did when grinding for the Pokémon League.

Kid Icarus Uprising - This is the most disappointing game I've played. It messed up the one thing it couldn't mess up for me to get into it: controls. The execution for three inputs using the touch screen, L button and analog/d-pad had already been done for years on the DS, but for some reason they had to flip off what worked well for what's a constant chore. I don't care for the near constant dialogue within 24 of the game's 25 chapters, especially when it's competing with the soundtrack. Both are of pretty good quality individually, but together they're a mess. I don't like being stuck with one weapon for 15-20 min. chapter, which is more than half of them. Combined with the linear design and the arrows informing me where to go, it becomes very dull and insulting quickly.

For me I guess it would have to be Persona 4.
With all the praise it got, I expected more than a generic dungeon-crawler RPG with some "social" mechanics chucked on.

Epic Mickey: Camera was the large issue. Its a good game, just not much of a great one
Code of Princess: Lag is a big issue with this one. Its also repetitive
Steel Diver
Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns: This idea could have been amazing, however it just splits the fun up into two.
Scribblenauts Unlimited: Scribblenauts is now way too specific. In the original Scribblenauts you can do plenty. In this one, some of the stuff they ask of you is too specific. I also prefered the mission layout more.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate: Its just not my thing. Maybe in the future, I'll come back to the game, but in the meantime it ends up on the disappointed list.
Shantae Risky's Revenge: Boring, a bit generic and the cherry on top to why I think Wayforward is overrated.

Skyward Sword - The controls were HORRIFIC. Seriously, it damn near ruined the game for me. Luckily the story was really good and character development (at least for Groose) was ok. Also, the time trials were pointless, annoying, and felt like a chore to do after the first one. I hate being timed in games. In addition, fighting the Imprisoned like 3-4 times (I can't remember the exact number) was ridiculous and annoying. It was obvious padding on Nintendo's part.

It depends, if you can't stand iffy motion controls seeping into every element of the game (Not an exaggeration), and/or tons of filler, avoid it. If you can overlook that, I would say definitely give it a try, but I would advise you to avoid thinking it's going to be another A Link to the Past, you could be sorely disappointed.
