I find it very hard to believe that every politician doesn't care about the common people. Presidents do help us out, as Bill Clinton reduced our debt and Nixon created the EPA. Sure politics may be dirty, but that's how it's meant to be.. It has always been dirty. Look back at the early days of our nation. Hamilton was killed in a duel by Aaron Burr. I think that politics has actually gotten more toned down..

While I don't agree with Ryno's extreme views, I do agree that chances are good that nothing will really happen no matter who's in power. Not that I think the system's broken, far from it, I just feel that no one wants to use it right anymore. Politicians no longer seem to really care about doing the right thing anymore. Heck, even a motivated, intelligent, good hearted person would probably have a lot of trouble getting in the right changes, done the right way, since too many people are worried about losing their kushie jobs.
Of course, nothing changing is better than things getting worse (or even violent), I guess, so there's that.
