I've been browsing NL with adblock off for a good long while now and I've had no problems... until now.
There are flash-based video ads that are coming up on articles around the right side of the screen. They cause a bunch of problems for me when loading because Adobe's products have been sucking, and thus the flash player crashes repeatedly. It's even worse when there is a video already in the article where I might as well just close my browser because it will be stuck.
Can you guys do something about these annoying ads?
iirc, sending a contact form with the ad in question will get the NL team to look at the issue.

And can you go a little faster?!
I have this problem too. Last time I was on a article I actually had to shut down my internet browser through task manager. It has gotten to the point where I don't want to click on the articles because of this. :C If I have to I might actually have to get ad block just for this site which is my last resort and something I really want to avoid. It is worth mentioning this is also the only site I have seen with this problem and I go on many other video game sites.
I was actually coming to the forum section of the site to post this same problem and found this topic. Haven't made any screen caps (will try ti in the future), like others I have to use task manager to close my browser cause it locks my browser up from time to time.
EDIT::
refreshed home page, and here you go. ( watch mojo )
I've had occasional problems as well when there's a video ad (any video ad on this site, not any one in particular). It will frequently either "freeze" the page (making links "unclickable") or crash it altogether, forcing me to close the window or tab.

I'm using Chrome, btw.
You can go to settings and turn off all plug-ins. If you did it right, every video will become a gray box with a puzzle piece. It won't block all the ads, but videos will not be able to play.

I have been having that problem for a few weeks now and I am using Firefox.

Yup, me too... Navigating each article's page is getting slowed down by those video ads... I can run a video featured in the article just fine, but scrolling and typing text on the boards gets delays... the videos don't even run correctly, I just get an image with distorted audio blurps...

I just had one showing all kinds of nasty images of someone after surgery for cancer. I know the ad isn't intending to be visually appealing, but I'm also not browsing this site to be grossed out. I'm doing it because I don't think anyone else around here realizes I'm not working.
video ads in general suck, some of them(including the ones here) glitch and start playing everytime I change tabs(or maybe it's because my mouse hovers over the ad to change tabs even if that's the case it remains annoying)

Anyway, for Chrome users, you can do these steps to block video ads:
1. Go to Settings under the triple line in the top right corner.
2. Click on "Show advanced settings" on the bottom
3. Click on "Content settings" under "Privacy".
4. Scroll down on the new window until you reach "Plug-ins"
5. Click on "Block all" or "Click to play"
This will block any plug-ins such as Flash on websites. Any video including Youtube or video ads will become gray screens with a puzzle piece on it. If you chose "Block all", you can right click the screen and select "Run Plug-in" to enable the video. If you chose "Click to play", you only need to click the gray screen to run the videos.
You can also enable an entire website such as Youtube to use plug-ins. After blocking the plug-ins, websites with a blocked plug-in will have a puzzle piece with a red X on it in the URL bar on the right. Click on this puzzle piece, then select "Always allow plug-ins at www.blah.com", and the website will no longer have blocked plug-ins. Alternatively, you can manage exceptions from the settings menu where you blocked plug-ins.
@WaLzgi thanks for the hint! I always forget to mess with browser options.

Unfortunately, I've been having this problem as well.
In the past, I was able to load 50+ tabs on this site without any problems. However, over the last few months, I have noticed if I open 5-10 tabs on this site Flash Player crashes, or becomes so unresponsive that I have to terminate it via task manager!
I also suspect that the mojo ads are the primary source of grief (which cause other ads to play as soon as they end), but there are other offenders (see below).
I understand that this is a non-profit site which relies on ad revenue, and so I will refrain from using adblock.
As far as my browser, I am using Firefox 31 with the latest version of Flash Player.
The Pirated Bay is even worse. I tried going there (not to download anything, just fun) when suddenly all these ads saying "BETTER THAN CRAIGLIST' with semi-nude girls were ALL over the site. Not going there again.
Just as a quick update, I think I finally found a fix for non chrome users.
It turns out that adobe has been working to implement a new protect mode on-top of their current security setup. The new feature is known to cause performance issue, especially with non-64-bit browsers running on 64-bit hosts.
To toggle the feature off in windows, you will need to navigate to: C:\windows\syswow64\macromed\flash\ (for 64-bit windows)
or: C:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\ (for 32-bit windows)
Once there, you will need to copy mms.cfg to somewhere you can edit it (eg. Desktop, Documents), add the line "ProtectedMode=0", and then replace the original file with the modified one.
Afterwards, simply restart your browser and you should be all set.
Uggh, just encountered another one. This one''s for a movie called Exodus.
What's bad about this one it that it automatically expands to take over a significant portion of the screen, plays aloud, and offers no option to stop/pause the video ad.
It also pops up rather frequently. I must have overheard it at least two dozen times while typing this post (or at least every half minute). What's even more annoying, is when several start playing at the same time on separate tabs or even on the same page.
