I got it yesterday, and the 3D is awesome. It's the best 'pop out' I've seen so far. My only complaint is that when you play with the 3D effect all the way on, when you are focusing on the enemies, the aim crosshair looks double. So it does kind of mess with your eyes, but this is definitely a keeper.

To score high dont forget there are hidden flags (bomb to reveal those spots).
Found one so far (delete this:with an extra life for my pleasure Add instead: Im rowing back. It seems it was just the regular extralife at a certain amount of points. But Ive revealed some kind of flag and it gave some extra points if I noticed correctly - as far as thats possible in the heat of dogfights...

~93000pts now...

Great game, makes great use of the 3D effect. What I don't understand is why the next game being remade is Urban Champion, which would not benefit from 3D at all.

This is a signature.

Agh, made it to 1-9 with 6 extra ships and earned an extra ship with points while trying to pass it yet still couldn't pass it — wound up with 182,080 points. I don't think I'll ever be able to beat this game, and it sure does make me swear every time I lose a life, but for some reason it keeps beckoning me back to try again. Those arcade machines must have swallowed a lot of quarters.

Hehe, same at me, believe it, iphys Game starts to throw those black dot thingies and those fast traveling bullets against me each time Im sure about the current try will be the ultimate attack for sure Pretty nice how game varies its enemy placements (except for the ground target of course). 106k so far at me...still trying for more. On a real arcade I would be at 20 or 30€ so far

You can't beat it. After the 16th area the game loops.

Hmmm...all you guys seem to like this game. I think I'm going to download it!

I'd consider it beat if I could make it to the end of the 16th area, but I don't think that's going to happen. It would be nice if they added in some sort of ending to the game for this version, but I doubt they did. The credits sure are sparse.

I've been seeing reviews all over the internet praising this version.
It seems everyone agrees it's good.
It still amazes me though how the original version was considered pretty lame.
Besides the 3D it's the same game so why all the praise?

Well I saw the trailer on the eShop and the 3D looks really REALLY good. Without he 3D it looked like the ship was dragging across the ground, but with the 3D on it actually looked like I was flying above them. I guess the 3D effect is just so good people are willing to over look it's flaws. I'm actually considering picking this up and I had no intention to when it was announced...

I'm pretty close to just buying it myself but I don't know.
Is a game that never was that great really redeemed by a simple 3D facelift?

I thought Xevious was good enough without 3D.

I think this was always a good game if you gave it a chance, but the 3D really helps to demonstrate what was so novel about being able to fire in the air and on the ground. I had only ever played the NES version, and the graphics are superior to that and better than I was expecting. I had also never realized there were hidden towers and flags, so trying to find them all adds extra interest to playing the game.

I remember playing Xevious on the Atari 7800, god that version was brutal.

Xevious was pretty impressive for its time and it's still very playable. It just hasn't really aged all that well. I haven't played this version, but I can see how the 3D effect could add a lot to the game.

.... or something like that.

From what I've seen they did a really good job of putting this old game into 3D, it almost seems like it was meant for it with the ground and air combat.

The 3D - depth and pop-out - on this game is amazing! As for the gameplay, its made me swear a time or twenty but I keep going back for more. Love it!

Love my 3DS and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate!

The title screen alone has the best popout I've ever seen on 3DS!
It looks like you can put your finger right through it.

The only reason I bought this game was because I wanted a 3D game to play, and I'm not disappointed with the quality of the game even though I find I have to play it with the 3D on low.
