I love this game so much. I got 10 hours on it so far. The main game lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. Battle mode is really fun too. I really wish I could try out download play already, but my friends can't come over to try it out. So I've only been battling computers. It's still fun though. They put up such a fight.
The 3D really stands out in the Soundtest. When I look at the planet spinning around without the 3D I feel like it's spinning and I'm just watching it. When I turn the 3D on I feel like I'm spinning around the planet in a giant galaxy. It's so amazing!
The score attack mode is really fun too. I think I spent a half hour just trying to get silver medal on Corneria. This game rocks.

I have beaten all of the missions in this game, and I love this remake. I know the original like the back of my hand, but I am surprised by the amount of effort Nintendo has put into this remake. From the updated music, the new but very similar voice acting, the updated graphics, and to the improved controls makes one of my favorite games of all time even better than ever before.

Aside from the lack of online multiplayer, this is a perfect remake in my opinion. It feels like what Star Fox 64 would have been like if it was released in 2011 instead of 1997. I also feel like more effort was put into this remake than Ocarina of Time 3D, but maybe that is just me.

Since I have bought this remake and show my support for this series once again, Nintendo needs to release a NEW Star Fox game. I think Nintendo has kept us fans waiting long enough.

I wasn't going to pick this one up, but... gave in eventually. A few levels look truly beautiful with the new graphics (like that... sepia-ish rainy level, I forget the name).

I think I'll pick thgis up: There aren't any good anymore and I don't want that 3DS is getting dust only for like, 2 months?

Changed name: Old name was JDT!

Wait, is this sarcasm? Seriously, the main game is super easy. I beat it on my second playthrough. The third playthrough I beat it without losing a single life? Is there a harder difficulty setting or something?

I think there is a harder difficulty level.. I think it says in the manual. I really want to unlock it.

EDIT: It's called Expert mode. Unlocked under certain conditions.. I think getting medals in Campaign..?

Um, you get continues in 3DS mode.

Anyway, does anyone else think the multiplayer arenas are too big. I have a hard time finding the other players. I was expecting areas like Katina or Fichina from the campaign.

By the way, how is Corneria the 4th planet of the Lylat system when I count 6 planets that are closer to Solar (and Fichina's climate baffles me)?

OK not the difficulty but rather the unforgiving nature of this game (i.e. you mess up x amount of times you have to start over no matter what). Admittedly, given the games I play I should be used to this but lately with Nintendo I've started expecting easy games, and wasn't keeping in mind that Star Fox is from the 64 era.

@Duney I beat it on my first playthrough but this time I wasted some lives going back to previous levels so I could follow the path to Venom 2, and when I kept missing the last couple switches in Macbeth I ran out of lives and got a game over. It won't take forever to get back to where I was but it's just not fun to have to redo everything, which is my main complaint with this game.

@Bulba Duly noted. Will be using that mode from now on.

I played this game effortlessly the first time through. I was surprised at how easily I played through and the route I took were all in the top (Sector Y, Aquas, Zoness, sector Z, Area 6 and Venom 2).

I remember having a hard time getting to Aquas because I didn't know how to get the mission accomplished. I think they made it easier...? I never got to Zoness in the original N64 game and I played that game many many many times... So it's weird how I played the game like I did then and got to Aquas (only got there once in the original game, remember we had to go somewhere so... yeah, my bro and I never beat it) easily.

I'm working through the top route on my current playthrough (to get all the stages available in Score Attack), and I had a tough time on Zoness today (technically yesterday). It took me about a dozen tries (including a couple of continues) to nail all of the searchlights. Next time, I get to try out Sector Z. Hopefully it's easier to stop 6 missiles than it was to get all of those searchlights.

I beat every level in the campaign. Still haven't unlocked the expert difficulty so I guess you do need to get all medals.

I think you need to get all the gold medals in Score Attack.

Thinkin' about trading this one for 3D Land tomorrow. Sadly I just felt like it didn't have enough content to keep me interested in it for very long.

Nah, it's all the medals in Campaign mode I read, to unlock Expert mode. We should call them ribbons to refer to Campaign medals (there's only gold in campaign compared to score attack's 3 variations). I got half Silver medals in Score Attack N64.

As for Campaign, I have a ribbon in Zoness, Sector Z and Venom 2. I think I would have gotten a ribbon in Area 6 but Peppy and Slippy left and to get a ribbon you need to have all your team mates there till the end of the mission. I got 280 hits in Area 6... Tomorrow, I'll try to get all ribbons to unlock Expert mode.

Aquas and Asteroid Belt may be hard for me.

Aqueous

@Oddy - try beating the level to get a free live, then restarting for endless tries
@KomicZ - You can now see things on Aquas which makes things much better

Is it me or did Star Fox 64 3D made the "true form" of Andross battle more difficult than the original?

didnt expect this game beeing so damn short ! But never the less enjoyable.
So anyone got tips about getting high hit counts ? I play the 3Ds mode with gyro controls and in most levels i manage to get only very low hit counts with about between 60 - 100 hits. Crazyness to see that meteo for example needs 300 for gold medal.
Or is it much more easy to get hits in N64 mode ?!
oO
And i got some problems with the star wolf team on fichina. Any tips about killing those in time BEFORE the bomb detonates ?
Wouldnt have thought that game beeing so challenging hehe
