I've been watching YouTube videos of games that have been done in Japan and there are some really good looking ports. A guy ported Ys book 1 and Ys III. All I saw in the Ys III video is the opening though. @Morpheel I'm going to do like you said and start out with a text adventure type game. He also did Mr Do I think on Version 1.2 of petite computer and it looks great.
Still playing 3DS but will have Switch soon for multiplayer with friends. I miss you guys! Adam, Joni, Gavin and the rest of the Blue Rogues from the Phantasy Star Zero Days.

I think that might be from Petit Computer. Unless that person or someone else remade the same thing with this one.
Edit: and good luck!
Well the loading screen for Petitte computer said version 3.0

It will be interesting to see how much code can be ported over directly into SmileBASIC.
Is there any information about compatibility? I know that SmileBASIC offers new features and improved performance, but don't know anything about how much the code has changed.
To be honest if you have any interest in learning proper game development I'd avoid this software as the coding method is radically different from other formats such as Unity that it'll make learning their coding much more difficult.

I actually do not have any interest in game programming with Unity. Maybe if I was 20 or 30 years younger I would but this Basic program will be fun for me to toy around with.
I found a cool website which got me started today and actually showed me a few things I did not understand. Not bad at all. I did the first 9 lessons before taking a break. I had a good time and understood what I was doing. Here is the website if anyone would like run through these simple starter lessons.

Everyone has probably seen this video but it shows some more version 3 goodness.

Last video it's the Japanese trailer. It shows some more polished gaming probably the games that will more than likely be included with the software.

Looks like that second video was a contest they were running.

Mmmm... This is kind of bull.
Learning this software won't do anything to help with "real" development, but I disagree that it makes it harder. People just need to know that things are different - so learning SmileBASIC is (mostly) only good for playing with SmileBASIC.
Some of the basic logic and math will carry over into general coding, but knowing how to create games in one platform won't let you just build something in the other without additional work and learning.
@Morpheel ok moved over here. I'm just worried that they might try to gain some rights to people's creations and exploit. But I'm probably worried about nothing. I wonder if those Contest winners who got their games on the Eshop actually made money off their games. Now wouldn't that be kinda cool. But most of what I've seen from the earlier Petit Computer and this New Smile Basic has been Demo software and a lot of unfinished projects. I guess maybe getting a group of people together might be a good way to go.

Seems to me like the only prize was the exposition and the pleasure of having your game on the eShop (and maybe at least a code to download it for free!). But I don't really know for sure.
