So its finally happened, Ill start at the beginning i bought a 3ds day of release and after about a year my screen was covered in marks, i put up with it as annoying as it was (strangely it seemed to be more obvious when the 3d was turned on)
So when Nintendo announced the 3ds XL I bought one on day release, I had a brand new 3ds and a lovely clear screen, but today i noticed it, a mark i wiped it and it wouldn't go away luckily its only small and not obvious like the eyesore that was on my original, but now i dont know what to do as i know its only gonna get worse and i cant stand those screen protectors as they bubble up and just look hideous.
Has anyone else noticed this on the XL yet? and do they have any tricks as to stop it im to scared now to close my lovely 3ds XL

Are you talking about the marks that the border of the bottom screen leaves on the top screen?

If so, try placing something in your 3DS when you close it, such as a microfiber cloth.

Yeah, there's a few small dots on my XL's top screen now.
It's not as bad as the original, but unfortunately the problem still exists and it'll probably gradually build.
Maybe I should get some screen protectors now before it gets too noticeable... but I think I'll probably just see how I go and if I need to just send it in before the warranty expires.
I ended up trading in my original 3DS (which also had two broken shoulder buttons) for a perfect condition Zelda 3DS which now has screen protectors, a hard case and a carry case and I only ever really use for StreetPass.

It's already happened to mine but I've had screen protectors on since day 1. You need to learn how to apply them properly I think! There's no reason why they should bubble up.

You're putting them on wrong, then. My screen protectors are as good as invisible.

They're a pain for me to put on...I have a skin from skin it...so my 3DS looks fancy AND it deals with the marks problem. :3

I still have my original 3DS. Nintendo actually replaced my top screen because the lines of dirt were permanent (and it was still under Warranty). Now, I just keep my 3DS open while at home and if I take it somewhere, I always place a microfiber cloth in b/t the screens. It works great in preventing scratches/dirt/smudges!!

It's disappointing to hear that the XL still suffers from vertical marks on the top screen. I was under the impression Nintendo had fixed this problem with more recent 3DS units. (ie I was told the newer colors like Midnight Purple had longer extenders on the top screen that prevented it from ever touching the bottom screen).

That's one thing I hate about having a new handheld, dam screen marks.

Can't say i have that problem yet and i play the heck out of my system. Also take it with me everywhere. I do have a circle pad inprint on the black part where it touches the top and it wont rub off.

I don't really have marks, my top screen is just very constantly... Dusty. I wanted to put a screen protector on it, but it just made the dust painfully obvious when I was using the 3D.
