@MegaBeedrill actually i believe someone that works for Game Freak said there were less new Pokemon in S&M because of all the new Mega Evolutions they made instead. Don't have a source since I am on my phone
Well unless you have a source I'm pretty sure they haven't said that particularily about Sun and Moon considering the scarce info they've even given us about them so far. And I've never heard them say that even before SuMo existed but I could have missed it.
But I agree that's the direction they seem to be taking now. Which is personally disappointing as most of the Mega designs are ugly imo and I would love to see some Pokemon get proper evolutions instead of just Megas — Heracross, Pinsir, and Sableye for example. Plus getting Megas prevents Pokes from getting any new evolutions forever, but maybe GF will make some baby Pokemon again.
Sorry for the little rant, I don't hate Mega Pokemon, just sad as I always imagined more evolutions for old Pokemon and we haven't had many of them since Gen IV. I know it's probably their way of keeping the Pokedex numbers from increasing too high but the Mega Pokemon just dont have as much personality as entirely new 'Mon. Plus, what will they do when every Pokemon has a Mega? I guess they will need a new gimmick to keep things fresh, like fusion, lol. That would be a nightmare.
@DefHalan@FriedSquid Mega Pokémon aren't tied to the Pokédex in any way, right? I don't think this is going to happen, but technically they could easily ditch the entire mega concept. If they don't have those mega stones available in generation 7, then there's no way for Pokémon to mega evolve in the seventh generation. However, what they could do is forget about the current mega evolutions and introduce 30-40 new mega evolutions to play around with in the new generation. Generation specific mega evolutions essentially. That way they can still have older Pokémon evolve, despite having a mega evolution in a previous game.
I don't think they will do that. Pokémon's battle mechanics are always fleshed out, without ever taking anything away from it. I would seriously be dissapointed if the older Mega Evolutions don't return. I thought it was a cool concept and I expect them to just add new ones with each title to the already existing ones like they did in OR/AS.
Removing mega evolution would be a very dumb decision if they went with it. Granted some pokemon may have been better with actual evolutions, but a lot of the megas also provide power spikes to pokemon that can't evolve further (pidgeot, metagross, beedrill, ampharos, etc). Half the mega's pokemon are utter garbage and unusable, but megas give them the power spike they need to atleast be reconizable.
The only thing I can really say whenever somebody brings up the concept of "just make evolutions" is that it will disrupt the fanbase for that one pokemon. Think of it this way: Your favorite pokemon is mawile, and then mawile gets an evolution, now mawile, your favorite, is completely forgotten and unreconizable as there is a much more superior form of it you should have. With a mega, mawile is still mawile, keeping that base character, and then if you choose not to mega, you can have an excuse with keeping it the way it is for another mega without saying "it's just a trash baby mon on my team cause I find the pre-evo's form cooler looking".

Looks like you even get to see the trainer you are fighting in the background. I hope they do that not just for a few major boss battles but for every person you fight.
Hope they go all out with trainer customization...
I never bought it (dunno when), but I saw how much there is in Pokken. Would love to see my character more often, even in battles.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
iirc, no first screenshot of the HP bar actually went through. It's usually changed a few times first into the final bar.
Although this one looks plain as it is, I like the shape of it with it getting smaller as you lose hp, but it only being the bar seems kinda lazy and experimental for this stage of the game's development.
