How the heck does Victini = Pikchu, Plusle, Minun in stats or design!?
I don't get it either...
Okay yeah... my bad. Emolga was the one I was thinking of. They do still look kind of similar though. As for Tauros and Boufellant, as well as Grimer and Garbodour being related, I really don't think that's a good idea for Pokemon to go there. There are literally millions of species in the real world. If there were that many Pokemon, would anyone actually try to catch em all?
They've been there since day-one, though. It's actually part of the charm, too. Makes it come off as some kind of alternate reality where every animal has become a fusion of myth and realism. There's even a few Pokedex entries, IIRC, that mention certain pokemon are related. I think they were just mentioned in passing, though.
@Neoproteus Gen 5 was sort of a "reboot" in the way that you only battled new Pokemon before completing the game. I think they re-used some Gen 1 insperations on purpuse because of this, sort of a reference to the original Pokemon. As for the Pikachu "clones"... Well, that's sort like tradition in the Pokemon serier, that each Gen has it's own "Pikachu" and i don't think it's really a case of lacking insperation. But i can se where you are coming from-
Edit: I'd also like a dark and depressing story to motivate you, I want a truly evil organization, and perhaps a scene where you almost die.
Actually there is a scene in a pair of games where you are almost killed by an antagonist but, for spoiler sakes, I won't reveal when or where.
As for me, along with some other ideas here, I'm really waiting for a sibling rivalry, as that would have it's own charms and would really allow for a more personal story.
