Hi guys, my first post! I saw you guys were having trouble with getting the frisbee back after your dog catches it. When you get your dog to come back to you make sure to rub his head until the little icon thingy appears. Over time your dog will learn to not only come back to you, but not to fight you when you try to get the frisbee back.

Tap the screen or call the dogs name and he'll come. Eventually he'll come after the first tap/call.

well i have done that. i rubbed his had like a thousand times but he still doesnt come without me calling him. and in the competitions he doesnt react to any calling. only when i tap the screen.

Hi! I'm new here.... I just really need somebody to talk to! Especially about the 3DS and Nintendogs+Cats! My absolute fave topics! LOL I have some questions to ask anyone who is willing to answer:
1) I am getting French Bulldog and New Friends version. Should I get a basset hound or a french bulldog as my first dog?
2) Should I get a boy dog or a girl dog?
3) What's a cuter name for my dog? Baxter (boy) or Leilah (girl)?

Welcome to Nintendo Life! I don't own (and I probably I'll never own) Nintendogs + Cats, but I can help you out!

1.) Personally, I would get the basset hound. Since a Nintendog stays a puppy forever, you won't have to worry about having a fat sausage lying around. Plus, I think it's far cuter than that "Yoda breed," but that's just me.
2.) Gender doesn't really matter. I would choose a male dog, though.
3.) Baxter is the only choice you gave for a male dog, so Baxter it is!

The only one who can finalize these choices, however, is you. Don't let me force you to get Baxter the basset hound if you don't want to.

While my 3DS was a week late, my copy of nintendogs arrived a week eariler, Isn't that something?!

That's the 2nd time I've seen that 'room' now, but it's not available on my version. Now I'm wondering if the rooms you start off with are different with each version of nintendogs? The choices of free rooms on mine are pretty lame.

So how is the 3D effect in this game? I'm trying to decide if I want Nintendog's or PilotWings to be the first title i pop in my 3DS....Which of the two is more impressive when it comes to the 3D?

Thanks , the free rooms in my version are this americanish room and a japanese tatami room, which i imagine is because in japan this version is "Shiba Inu and new friends".

What version is yours?
I can imagine they include the room (or a similar one) you see in the box of the game.

@wave: The 3D works very well, it gives a lot of depth, many things pop out and everything looks much nicer.
But i don't know if pilotwings looks any better because i don't have that game.... They're both from nintendo so i guess the effect is just as good.

I wasn't interested in Nintendogs when it came out... mainly because I'd tried a game called Catz which was not very interesting.
Reading through what you can do with Nintendogs though I think I might give this a try.
I like the fact that they added cats but given that I own a cat (and tried playing a game dedicated to them) I can see why they don't have you start off with one.

Well, you can't start with cats bacause you would get stuck.
Cats can't be trained or entered in contests, so they can not gain money.
No money means no other pets or food or toys or anything.

The Petz series is known to be bad-to-average and designed with small girls in mind, not even us nintendogs enthusiasts like them.

They should have a 'coin' accessory. Making a cat look like Meowth

Has anyone noticed that if you take your dog for a walk in Nintendogs + cats using the Pedometer option that
you can get items that are unavailable at the stores? If you bring your 3DS with you on a "real" walk the longer
the walk (step count wise) the better the items you seem to get.

I'd say Nintendogs does a better ob with pop-out 3D, what with the confetti and when the dog/cat comes up in your face on the screen, although it does have some nice depth 3D as well. Pilotwings doesn't have much pop-out 3D, but it does a phenomenal job with the depth 3D. Just don't set the 3D too high or your character will double.

That's right i often see my pet "pop-out", when she is near the screen, catching the boomerang, or when she raises her hind leg after an intense petting session and i put the camera facing the leg, it looks as if it was out of the screen.

Also, when these little birds fly towards the screen... It gets me every time.

Also, has anyone tried blowing when your dog is standing in front of the screen? That makes a nice pop out effect too.

anyone know how to unlock new dogs nad cats races in the game?

i heared it doesnt matter which version you buy. in the end you will be able to buy every race of the other versions too. but when? i want a second dog but i dont want the ones that are avaible from the start.

You have to meet a person with a dog you don't have with steet pass i think.

But you will end up slowly unlocking them all by just caring and playing with your dogs.
