Topic: Nintendo Sept 13 meeting; What could they announce?

I very much doubt those would be the case

Then where did these ridiculous rumors come from? Would Nintendo really give up on a handheld only 5 months into it's life? They just cut the price by $80, and it's not even the holiday season yet. Why does the media always resort to speculation and rumors?

The conference is called :
"Nintendo 3DS new product announcement"
This conference is strictly 3DS related and not anything WiiU or Wii. Now that we got that out of the way,
What could it be?? There really can't be things like peripherals or anything like that for the 3DS, so that seems extremely un-likely.
The only thing that comes to mind is for Nintendo to talk about a new game(s). Now that we have that into perspective let's start talking about that and not some other un-likely subject.
The conference's name says "...New product announcement" So I don't believe it's anything like a Youtube app or something. It sounds more likely to be more along the lines of physical media leading me to believe that it really is a new game(s) (I know this is all pretty obvious to some of you and all but I want other people to understand that this conference is not about anything that the rumors have stated.)
Ok, now let me get even more speculative.

The game has to be first party since it is a Nintendo conference and not TGS (obviously) and there are only a handful of First Party franchises left to be released on the 3DS. Let's see.. we already got Starfox, Super Mario 3d Land, Mario Kart, Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario, Smash Bros. is announced and will be released at some point for 3DS, we already got a Zelda (remake, though it may be, it still is a zelda on the 3DS and i don't think a new zelda has much of a chance to be announced on the 13th), and even Kid Icarus._{( Did I miss one or two? let me know please ty)}
Like I mentioned, there are only a handful left to be possibly announced, and the most likely in my book has to be a new Metroid game. more specifically the rumored Metroid Dread, or a new Pokemon game
Other possibility's include: Mario and Luigi: RPG 4, and perhaps F-zero.

BUT there is also one more possibility: A new IP. Though I do not believe a new a IP will be announced and would more suitably be announced at E3, it is still a possibility...

Well, thats all I got.

I hear this rumor that the world will explode and we will all die. Where did that come from? I made it up.

nintendo will not say there discounting the 3DS in a confrence about the 3DS games and new thingsi mean comon there almost finished with all the big titles that will soon be released and if they do discotinue the 3DS (very unlikely) i want my £200 back plus the virtual boy was out for over 6 months and only sold 770,000 units the 3DS has sold 4 million there not gona let 4 million people down

This. Plus it would be a complete waste of money and resources if they just gave up on the 3DS.

@Arcanum Where do people keep getting this Metroid Dread idea from? Metroid Dread was just a rumor started by IGN. It was never a real game.

Could it be Baten Kaitos 3? Monolithsoft has announced it is working on a new game for 3DS and that it is the 3rd in the series. That'd be an extremely big title for sure. Not sure if Namco has rights as Nintendo published Origins- not sure if they did that for Japan as well. I'm real excited for BK3. A BK game was planned for DS a long time ago but was scrapped

Crossing my fingers for a slew of new games we never thought Nintendo would bring out so quick. There's a reason Nintendo has outsourced some if not most of their 3DS games to other devs. They must be cooking something big for us. Greggo might be working on Majora's Mask 3D while the LoZ team works on an original Zelda 3DS game.

They said it's a product, and it's a big announcement, so
I think it'll be a new IP, like Super Smash Bros but as a racing game maybe?

A Nintendo Racing game? It'd be cool... but..

I would prefer a Nintendo RPG instead. And the main character happens to be your Mii. I think that'd be really cool. And your Mii would make it a more personal experience based on your favorite color, Mii Plaza stats, etc.

Also... anyone remember reading an article about two months ago when a The Pokemon Company rep said that they'll be revealing some big surprises for Pokemon fans later this year? Could this correlate to this? Possible.

But this time, if it's some new Pokemon RPG (not next gen), I'd like to use my Mii

i think it's about those pokemon games they announced were coming but nothing really on them since. i would love a new pokemon game. and would love to know when Kid Icarus is coming out, because I really want to play it. It is a software announcement for the 3DS, not the Wii. We shall see when September 13th comes.

I don't think "Nintendo 3DS new product announcement" excludes firmware upgrades or downloadable products. It could be something like 3D video recording and youtube integration which are both things which would, IMO, boost interest in the 3DS and be a "new product". They could even announce a new set of 3D Classics, an update to Street Pass, AR Games or Face Raiders or even a brand new new built in game along similar lines.

I also don't see why it can't be a game from a franchise that's already been done. An all new 3DS Zelda or Starfox for next year isn't out of the question and neither are remakes of other versions of Zelda or other N64/GC era games (Majora's Mask, Mario 64 (again?), Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Mario Sunshine, Pikmin etc).

Still, I think you're right in saying we're more likely to get something like Pikmin, Pokemon, a new Mario RPG, a new Metroid or some sort of cool new IP. I also wouldn't rule out some big third party game like Monster Hunter or similar although, given it's a Japanese conference, I wouldn't hold my breath for a big third party announcement for a western audience like GTA

Nintendo has bought the Chocobo character from Square Enix, and he'll be getting a new platform game (replacing Yoshi) and will be an unbeatable character in Smash Brothers (Mario has nothing on the lil guy).

I go to the same websites as tendoboy, and this rumour is all over them. It's costing Nintendo $3bn yen.
