I do think the Layer-Switching like in Mutant Mudds seems plausible...
Also, to anyone who says this has DS graphics, check the comparisons. It's quite noticeable.

I still feel intrigued by the purple pipes with golden piranha plants coming out of them. I don't recall seeing purple pipes in a Mario game before, particularly in a New Super Mario Bros. game. Wario certainly comes to mind. Also, notice in the same snowy screenshot that Mario's hand has a flash just like the purple pipe.

It looks a lot like New SMB Wii and people did say that that game looked like a "DS port" so expect the DS port rants. It clearly isn't though, people who think it is have clearly forgotten how low resolution the models in New SMB were.

I mean they are pretty much the same game but the Wii and 3DS versions are clearly better looking. Especially when Mario goes super sized....

Why does the game look weird. Its like the object in the foreground (Mario and boxes etc) clash with the background.

How are we supposed to know? But my best guess is maybe a layer-switching feature like in Mighty Mudds.

I mean all the games. The. 3D models in all 3 games don't goxwell with the background graphics. Seems like they are from two different products.

While the NSMB games aren't my favorite out of the "Super Mario" series (a little too short and easy, IMO), they were still good fun, so I definately plan on picking this up. Also, hopefully you'll be able to fully fly like in SMB3. That would be so fun :)

NSMB for the DS was alright - but it wasnt great, especially for graphics.

I make Pixel Art on occasion.

I prefer the 3DS screenshot compared to the DS and Wii screenshot's... and it's not because of graphics. The one on the 3DS just looks cleaner and nicer to look at for some reason... the DS one looks too chunky and the Wii one looks kind of jagged, especially on Yoshi's tongue.

However, they all played perfectly... can't wait for NSMB2.

So if we download nsmb 2 from eshop do you think we need a class 10 sd for loading speed? Or atleast some loading speed advantages?

@MattEriks I have a class 10 Transcend SD card and the speeds are horrible. I don't know if it's just the brand, faulty card or the 3DS doesn't support class 10.
Does anyone know if the 3DS supports SanDisk Ultra cards?

Yeah NSMB DS is one of the ugliest games I've ever seen. The Wii one was boring, but it wasn't ugly.

The picture of World 1-1 looks like 1-1 from NSMB DS and NSMB Wii, which makes me kinda angry. Ridiculous, yes, but Super Mario is my favorite series and this World 1-1 repetition is such a waste of my time. I'm sure all of world 1 will be way too easy and painfully uncreative. Also from the screenshots, the worlds will have the same themes as the other NSMB games. Generic Mario theme, ancient Egypt theme (why are they still doing this oddly specific theme?), forest theme, winter theme. And probably cloud theme, mountain theme, and lava theme. Why no new worlds? :(
