Dear all,

I bought my Nintendo 3ds about a year and a half ago. I was reading about Nintendo Club yesterday and thought that I should register my 3ds. But I have thrown away the packaging. Is there any way I can sign up without the PIN? I am getting Animal Crossing: New Leaf tomorrow, will that have a PIN for Club Nintendo so that I can join? Thanks in advance.

You register your console using your serial number on the back of the 3DS.

Thank you for your quick reply. When I do try to put the serial number in it says it's incorrect. any idea why?

Thanks so much for your help.

actually you do not need to register the console you only need to create an account and you can register games, registering the serial number of the console is to get extra 1 year of warranty, registering the code that came in a club nintendo leaflet within the console box would have given you 150 coins, but you can sign and get coins from your games even if you don't have those

I have just gone onto the Club Nintendo website to register, it will not let me go to the next step without registering a product. Can I register with just a game pin code?

That should work, as I believe registered my systems after some games when I first joined (NA Club Nintendo). Also, are you sure you entered the right number for the serial? It should be on a white sticker on the back, at least that's how it is for a regular 3DS.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I tried putting the serial number in. It starts with CEM and it's on a white strip on the back of the console. I don't understand why they keep telling me it's wrong. When I read further down it said the serial number should consist of 2 letters and 9 numbers. But the serial number on my 3DS is 3 letters and 9 numbers. So confusing.

Thanks.

Registering your system could've gave you 160 points to use in order to get goods. However you can register games too, without having to register a console (i think) and to find the serial number/pin of your console, it's located in the back of your console. It will expand your warranty to 90 more days. Oh and before you throw away your ACNL box, find a paper inside that says a pin and register that into your club Nintendo account. And about that thing that u said with your console having 3 letters, I've never heard of that before. Are you sure it's C E M? Maybe one of the letters is a number and you just didn't see it right? If it does have 3 letters try contacting Nintendo or the retailer that you bought your 3DS from.

As explained is correct, Make sure your on the right Nintendo Website for your region. You cant register a US system/games on the UK site or vise versa for example.
Failing that phone/email Nintendo Customer Support.

Games make a great console, not technical specs.

'Where is the serial number?
So we can easily match your console with the necessary repair, we’ll need the serial number. You can find this on the bottom edge of your Nintendo 3DS.
If you use the Circle Pad Pro, you’ll need to remove this to find your serial number, which consists of three letters followed by nine digits.'

Dear all - I have just found the above quote on the Nintendo website which now says 3 letters and 9 Numbers

I didn't get any coins for my 3DS or 3DS XL. Apparently, there was supposed to be a Club Nintendo Card inside the box for me to put in when I called the Nintendo Help Center. My old 3DS, my brother's 3DS, and my own 3DS XL did not have any Club Nintendo card. I looked through everything, and there was nothing. I got my 3DS in August 2011, my older brother got his for Christmas 2011, and I got my 3DS XL August 2012. There should no excuse why none of them came with a card. What's strange is that my brother's and my DSiXL's both came with the Club Nintendo Cards, so it can't be anything regional. I put the Serial Code for my 3DS XL in my Club Nintendo account, but it didn't give me any coins. I am confused.

Hi, how many letters/numbers does your serial code have for the 3DS XL? You wouldn't have got any coins without the Nintendo Card - the serial code just extends the warranty apparently

The letters are "SW" and then I have nine numbers after it. It worked for me. When I put in my DSiXL and Wii U Deluxe, I also had two letters and nine numbers. It might be something regional, but I doubt it. You live in the PAL region, so you might need to talk to someone else who lives in Europe or Australia.

Hi,

Yes I live in Europe. Could that affect the serial number on the system?

Thanks so much for all of your help!

Ohh and now I understand the serial on the back is to increase the warranty so the leaflet that comes with 3DS games is to register to get the 150 coins...

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread again, but it really pisses me off that at least in Europe not all 3DS consoles came with the Club Nintendo points card.
I bought my red 3DS XL in October 2013 completely new and sealed from a shop and it did not come with any kind of Club Nintendo points card.

Now that Nintendo has that Christmas bonus campaign where you can register a 3DS and Smash Bros 3DS in order to get a free game, I can't register my 3DS. Why in the world have they made it so that you can only register with a points card that is not even put in all hardware boxes. Why couldn't they make the registering work like with Wii U or by simply just entering the serial number. Their database could easily see if the serial number has already been used by somebody else.

Also, from what I've read, the serial number CAN be used in Japan and maybe even in North American Club Nintendo, but not in the European one. Why is the European Nintendo stuff always so half done?
