So I finally have the money to buy Phoenix Wright, but the eShop won't even let me view any information on it bwcause I'm only 16. From what I understand (or at least what I think I understand), you need a parent's permission to buy a M rated title. Is there anyway for me to download M rated titles on the eShop? T-T
You having the same problem too? I hate it, but from what I've read in other places, you'd have to make a new account for the eShop and put that you're over 18. I'm looking for a solution too, so I'm hoping there's a better alternative
So many games in the eShop...so little money TT^TT

Wait but I thought the NNID was binded to the 3DS and there wasn't anyway to change it?

I dunno, that's just what I've heard. Maybe there's a way to erase it? I might have seen it somewhere, but I just got my 3DS yesterday, so don't quote me on that.

I'm in the same situation as you. Xbox Live was like that until late last year. Hopefully Nintendo makes permission to buy a M game an option in parental controls like on Xbox Live.

There should definitely be a way to confirm parental consent. If there isn't, Nintendo are being kinda stupid here.
The ESRB has no official legality. It's a lobby group, much like the MPAA. It's a parental advisory, not a parental mandate. In other words, they have no real authority. Every other company simply displays an "are you over the age of 17 or have guardian consent?" prompt. Even if you lie on that, the company has no liability. Nintendo has the right to withhold sale to anyone they want of course, but there's no good reason why they should here. The ESRB is intended to help parents to make informed decisions on what content their children access. If a parent says that their 12 year old can play an M-rated game, that's their business, not Nintendo's.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
They can't stop you from buying physical, but in the case of Phoenix Wright, you're outta luck. Sorry bro.

Some stores like Gamestop also have a policy against selling M rated titles to minors. And before you ask, yes it's legal to refuse service
Yes, that's true, but a minor can get the game if he/she has a parent with him/her to give consent that it's ok for him/her to buy the game. On the Nintendo eShop, there's no way to do that.
