So a new Chibi-Robo was announced today during the Japanese Direct on May 30th and confirmed for US/EU release during the Nintendo Direct Micro. It is different this time around - a 2D Platformer focused on whipping and swinging with Chibi's plug instead of a 3D adventure like the previous games were. Kinda reminds me of Castlevania IV or Yume's Odd Odyssey, actually.

Here's the trailer from the Micro Direct

It will be releasing in October in NA, and November in Europe for the 3DS. The retail version will also be bundled with a Chibi-Robo Amiibo, which can be used to activate "Super Chibio-Robo", which is more powerful and has the longest plug length.

Anyone else excited for this?

Well we don't know about pricing yet. If the bundle is $25 then you could reasonably guess the digital version could be $15. I guess it depends if there will be a retail version without the Amiibo, not sure if they said there would be. I want to buy the game digitally but if I like it I don't want to miss out on the Amiibo. So I am not sure when/if I will pick this up, I will probably just have to wait to see how much the Amiibo are being sold separately by private seller.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I'm actually a little disappointed that this is going to be a 2D platformer. I'd much rather see another game similar to the Gamecube original instead of this, but I'll probably still end up getting this anyway. (Even if it's just for the adorable Amiibo...)

Yes, I like bears.

I don't think there will be a retail version without the amiibo. I am getting this. It looks awesome.

Chibi-Robo's got some new moves, hopefully those moves can be apart of a moveset in Super Smash Bros someday.

I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!

I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!

This actually looks pretty good. At least it's a 2D platformer that isn't repeating a tired, 20 year old formula.

It seems like a really nice 2D platformer, I'm looking forward to this one. I miss side-scrollers like Castlevania. Now that IGA left Konami, there no hope of seeing a new 2D metroidvania on 3DS.

This actually looks pretty great, especially if it's a budget release.

I am very much looking forward to this. Especially for the Amiibo.

I am torn with this game:
On the one hand, I love Chibi-Robo and this looks like a decent side-scrolling platformer.
On the other hand, it seems to have nothing to do with the other Chibi-Robo games. It is more like a generic platform game with Chibi-Robo thrown in for brand recognition. I am also not interested in Amiibos so I hope you are not forced to buy the bundle.
If reviews are good and the price is decent I will probably get this.

Amiibo comes with the game so unless it's on the eShop that would be the only way to get it without it.

I want the game digitally but I don't want to miss out on the Amiibo if I enjoy the game.

Isn't that good, though? It's a brand-new Chibi-Robo experience! It looks like a really unique and interesting platformer. That amiibo looks awesome as well.

Though, I've never played Chibi-Robo. I've always wanted to. I might buy the one that's already out for the 3DS soon!

Chibi-Robo! is a great game, but 2D Platforming action simply does not fit that series...nor does it make any sense, really...why are there so many plugs everywhere? Just doesn't feel organic.

But I'm still looking forward to it. It looks fun.

@CanisWolfred: That's the same logic as saying there should be no 3D Mario games, there should be no Mario sports games, and that there should be no Mario Party or spin-offs of any kind. And it's not like this new Chibi-Robo game is generic - it has its own unique concepts.
