since i didnt find a single discuss thread for this gem i start one.

So basically bit.trip saga is keeping my 3Ds from getting dust. Revelations already finished. Heroes of Ruin was a fail. And kid icarus gets boring online when most times you win because of clueless or afk enemys.

Trying to perfect Bit.trip runner first. So i am at 99%. But that hellish 3-2 seems not to work. Oo . Yes the normal level is a cake walk. But when the retro challenge starts is mind blowing. There are three triple gold jumps and two narrow gold jumps over a campfire.
So anyone got an idea which technique would be best ? I figured you can try the triple jump either with a quick double jump or a one gliding jump. I think the narrow jump only permit one jump technique, but hell getting the timing five times in a row is a pain.
Oh and i think Saga is a better compilation than complete. I already got some bit.trip games on the wii. Yes saga got no multiplayer, but with headphones and 3D slider 100% up the immersion is so mindblowing. Recently i played some runner on wii and now the bit.trip games seem so boring there ...
I think Fate , Void and Flux got the best stereoscopic 3d.

So what do you think ? Anyone tryed perfecting something or gave up ? Oh for sure i will never be able to perfect flux or core

cheers

Personally, I found the Wiiware games to be much better. Yeah, the 3DS version worked, but framerate issues just make it inferior. It doesn't help that 3D slows down the framerate either (which ruins any game where precision is key. Dead or Alive had the same problem.) Still, playing them on the go made my $20 worth it, especially sine I only had Runner and Beat before.

As for perfecting the levels, I didn't have the patience or time to do so. All of those games are crazy hard, so beating them was good enough for me.

your point is not that valid moomoo
why ? because framerate hiccups only occured to me in bit.trip runner.
Oh and considering depth background video core seems to have the best.
And to be honest the stereo 3d is made so bad in runner u can savely turn it of for a better experience. Never thought i would say that in stereoscopic related topics. Oo
Framerate seems a breeze in all other games really. Besides with framerate issues i wouldnt been able to perfect the start of first three fate games. First Voids level and Nearly first beat level. I failed at the later fate levels because they are just so damn hard. Oh and of course runner 3-2 retro challenge level is still a menace ...

Framerate hiccupping and music de-syncing happen in the other games too — I especially noticed it with Core, which is one of my favorites in the series and i've played it a bazillion times over. Saga was a poor port. It's interesting to have as a part of my collection, but I can't take it seriously because it's horrendous to someone like me who played through the games as they were released for WiiWare and enjoyed them immensely in their original near-flawless format.

I would not recommend Saga to any potential Bit.Trip fan. Complete is supposedly perfect (though I haven't quite had the opportunity to hunt myself down a copy yet), and of course the games are still available as WiiWare, so I'd recommend either of those routes if possible. Please don't judge the series by the way they're presented in Saga, because Saga is awful.

Did you perfect any of those beloved games @ theblackdragon ?
Oh sure you wont recommend it and yet you still dont have the so said superior version?
I noticed graphical additions in saga. Not only stereoscopic is adding to it but the games are crisper and better looking too.
I went back to the wiiware bittrips and now with their blurry and less comlex visuals they look so dull compared to saga.
The only pro which goes to complete is the stayed multiplayer. Sure in terms of "poor" port, the missing multiplayer can be counted, but not much more.
And you do realize its not a port but a remake ? Clearly the polygons and stuff had to be remade or otherwise it wouldnt had worked in stereo 3d.

I own Saga, Complete, and all the WiiWare downloads, and Complete is definitely the way to go. Playing Saga is more like a novelty for the 3D and handy for the portability, but it definitely has framerate issues that make it less than ideal. If I'm playing for high scores, I prefer playing on the Wii.

I actually just popped Saga back into my 3DS after a long while... I originally played BEAT, CORE and RUNNER on WiiWare, but waited for one of the compilations to try the other games in the series. I chose the 3DS one since I felt I'd be getting somewhat different versions of all the games, instead of buying three games I already owned. The extra stuff in Complete is fine, I'm sure, and yeah, some of it runs more fluidly on Wii (RUNNER esp.) but I still really like Saga for what it is. Not as perfect as I was hoping, but it seems like one of those games I'll look at in a few years, after the 3D craze has died down, and be like, "Whoa, this was some trippy stuff." BEAT especially seems to benefit from the slight level of depth. Anyway. Carry on.

I haven't picked up Saga yet but, in comparison to Complete it is in some ways inferior. Framerate issues are not something Runner EVER needs. If you have no experience with Bit. Trip get Complete, if you have played Bit. Trip and want it portable get Saga.

SAGA is far inferior to COMPLETE in pretty much every possible way, yes, and this coming from someone who owns all six on WiiWare as well as both compilations (as well as both Steam releases thus far, but that's besides the point). COMPLETE simply gives you the best bang for the buck, runs as dreamily as the WiiWare originals, is absolutely packed with content, and comes with a soundtrack sampler CD.

While I don't regret my purchase of SAGA in any way, if I was forced to choose between the two I'd recommend COMPLETE over SAGA in a heartbeat. Apparently porting the series to the 3DS was some kind of hellish experience for the developers and almost killed Mike Roush, so I think the fact that it didn't even turn out so great and they're not bringing Runner2 to it says how Gaijin Games feels about the platform. A shame, too, since I love my 3DS.

The reason I don't yet own Complete is (a) because I already own the entire series for the Wii, and (b) it was hard enough to find a copy of Saga in town. I remember when it hit, I was hounding every GameStop in town for a week trying to find a copy, and when one of them finally was able to confirm for me that they had one copy in stock I was there in fifteen minutes asking for it. I didn't have the extra money to be throwing around at the time so I didn't pick up Complete as well, and to be honest I still don't have money to be throwing around for games I already own. I'll pick up Complete eventually for the bonus Challenge levels, but for right now I've got the originals, and to be honest that's enough for me.

As for 'remake' vs. 'port', it's the original games ported to a new system. there's no 'remake' about them at all. if the graphics were changed, it was necessary to do so to get them to display correctly on the 3DS, but nothing was radically changed — unless you want to consider the added difficulties in terms of framerate issues and music desyncing. i guess that could push this into 'remake' territory, though I wouldn't say it's for the best at all.

What exactly comes on the CD that you get with complete? The music CD is half the reason that I'm considering getting the game but I can't seem to find any detailed track list.

it looks like you get each of the three main (playable) songs from each of the games on the sampler CD. The full soundtracks include these songs plus the intro/credits tunes as well as the sounds for transitions between levels if you're wondering what you're missing :3

Thanks for the link. I think I could live with just having the level themes, besides, I can just buy the intro and ending themes if I really want them.

The first 15 tracks are about 3 minutes each in length and the last 3 tracks are about 7 minutes each in length. They sound a bit different from the game, but mostly I like the way they sampled them.

I'm in the same boat as you. I can Perfect all of Bit.Trip Runner except Bonus Level 3-2. That stage is the bane of my gamin' existence. D:

Stereoman

@ bezerker

Did u notice in runner that a perfect run also means a max high score?

The strange thing which i noticed is that in fate and void when u got a perfect run, this doesnt automatically mean that u get the highest score in addition. I got several scores in there, which are perfect and lower than some of my imperfect runs ;D

In that respect i think runner is too static and gets boring. I much prefer the dynamic in fate and flux!

cheers
