I really don't think I can play a Mario Kart without bikes, and the trick system o.O I hope they make it into the game!
I agree completely and I've played every Mario Kart game sing Mario Kart 64 (even Super Circuit) Although MK Wii is easily my least favorite game in the series I absolutely loved the addition of bikes and the trick system. Honestly playing without bikes is a huge downgrade for me. When I use to play the GTA games on PS2 I would only use bikes because regular cars were less exciting. MK Wii had some terrible balance issues, but it wasn't because of the bikes.even if everyone played with Karts the balance was still terrible. They could implement bikes and have the balance stay perfectly intact.
In my opinion bikes and tricks were a great addition because the bikes were fast, and the faster it is the more frantic it is, and also bikes got messed up easier so the risk made it more intense. Tricks were a good addition because being stylish is fun, and jumping of a ramp without doing some sort of flip seems kinda empty & boring. I'm really excited for MK 7, but I'm very disappointed that bikes and tricks probably aren't going to be included. Overall I'm still probably going to like the game alot, but the absence of bikes and tricks is a real let down.
Furthermore, Mario Kart 7 is all about getting back to the roots of the Mario Kart franchise.
...how? No, I'm serious, how is this getting back to the roots? The only way that would make sense considering all the other games is if it's more like SMK. Since with the exception of the somewhat odd and terrible Super Circuit, they've all basically been upgraded Mario Kart 64 + new stuff and this looks no different.
Although if this is actually SMK-like, that is awesome.
Why is there soo much hate for the Blue shell? It what sets MarioKart from the other Kart like games.
These items are designed to give those in last place the greatest chance of receiving some of the ultimate items, so to speak. These include the Blue Shell, the Golden Mushroom, and Lightning. They are the great equalizers of Mariokart, they give you a fighting chance when all hope is lost.
Yes, but there's a limit. Because of items like the blue shell, whether or not you win a race is based off of luck instead of skill. You can have all the skill you want, but that's not going to stop a blue shell from hitting you at the last second therefore reducing you from 1st to 7th.

I haven't lost one race to a comp or to a person in Mario Kart, skill is all you need to win Mario Kart, people have used blue shells against me but I always have a plan when I see them coming. But I do hate seeing them on my map and it gives me a headache planing for it to come and get me.

I avoid the Blue Homing Shell of Doom by dropping out of first place to like second or third and then zooming back out in front after the blue wash is over. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.

and if your any good at mario kart, its not like your gonna lose if you get hit. (unless its the last second of the last lap and some idiot hits you with the blue shell and you become 3 place

Actually i'd say the bikes wouldn't seem so ridiculous if they wouldn't require people to do a wheelie every few seconds. And while i liked snaking in Mario Kart 3DS after i got used to it i think it should never be made possible in any Mario Kart again.

It would be awesome if they offered bikes in the eShop as DLC!
I'd rather have the bikes already in the game rather than being something I have to pay for later on. DLC should only be for stages and characters IMO.
