Re: Review: Elliot Quest (Wii U eShop)

The graphics in this game really bugs me due to only using the pixel graphics as an aesthetic choice. The way the pixels actually differ in size to eachother, and how scrolling is smoother than the resolution actually allows because you can move a fraction of a pixel... No thanks. While the lack of handholding and feeling of relatively free adventuring is good, the difficulty is all over the place. Both Shovel Knight and La Mulana are far superior games in all regards.

@Nintendian
The thing is, that would be far better. Something like Midna in Twilight Princess leaves someone whose native language is not English far more immersed than having an American or a Brit yammering on. It sounds terribly phony and out of place. Imagine if you were to watch The Addams Family dubbed into German - do you think understanding German would make it just fine?

I bought Toki Tori 2 close to launch. I got an awesome, challenging and great game day 1. I enjoy Two Tribes games a lot, and I do not feel burned, deceived or slighted in the least. Plans change, business is hard. The game is still great, and I am very satisfied with my purchase. Thank you so much for making great games, @Collo ! I am happy to see that the trouble your studio has been in hasn't shut you down, and very excited to try out RIVE. I hope there will be a demo!

Re: Feature: Where Are The Super Nintendo 3D Classics?

Axelay ran beautifully on the SNES, flickering and slowdowns can generally be attributed to shoddy/inaccurate emulation. Any flickering you see on actual hardware is an intentional effect.

Such a beautifully crafted game!

The SNES port of Doom was atrocious, however. Even the GBA version trumps it by FAR.

The handholding in this is driving me insane. I am generally not one to be frustrated by video games, I can be stuck on puzzles for hours on end without feeling any form of anger, but the neverending tutorials and interruptions in this drove me bonkers. As the intricacies of the editor was painstakingly detailed to me in message after message after message delivered by my kindly old grandpa I felt myself tapping the screen harder and harder before starting to swear at the gamepad. On the plus side the game is good enough that I found it wildly infuriating to have these non-gameplay roadblocks... On the minus side you can't skip the tutorials or messages.
