@Mike Does everyone know if a game sucks before they buy? I read reviews. I rely on them to buy games. Most people however buy whatever was packaged nicely. If most of the games are crap, and most people are discovering that what they bought was crap after they bought it, they will soon drop the Wii like a sack of crap; Nintendo will lose.
Smell emitters on the Wiimote... To actually get a whiff of a game on the Shop Channel... Mmm... Great review or not, I don't think I'd want to smell World of Goo. Or Castlevania ReBirth...
w00t! Still gotta finish Castlevania Rebirth, and Blaster Master: Overdrive... Happy with the state of things though! Hope MM10 is every bit as hard or harder than MM9. And I'm all for the crazy challenges, and the fact that they're totally optional (beat the whole game without ever getting hit?? are you kidding me?)
Yay! Buying! I would have bought it if it had only earned a 6. I was not expecting 9!! I've only beaten the original once without savestates ('cause I had the NES Advantage slow-mo to help). Blaster Master is one of those cruel temptresses that kick your ass and have you crawling back for more. Thanks for the review, Corbie!
How about some newfangled Faxanadu, Metroid, or Bionic Commando on Wiiware. I'm getting bored of all these "pretty good" or even "fantastic" puzzle games. I'm sure there's creative developers out there than can come up with a good action/exploration platformer. Looks like I still have to rummage through the old VC titles for that type of gameplay. For now, I guess I'll enjoy my Castlevania Rebirth, and I'll wait for Megaman 10...
And no demo for this Tumblebugs 2... C'mon, Nintendo. Try a little harder to hook me.
Seriously, these covers remind me of the Protomen (and that silly awesome band had me playing Megaman 1 over and over) http://protomen.com/act1/protomen.htm
Boxart reminds me of the US art for the 1st Megaman. Love it! Hope the higher difficulties and alternate modes are acknowledged in the achievements this time around. Not that I completed every ridiculous goal on MM9...
Not sure whether to be disappointed or relieved. I kinda want HDMI and a bigger hard drive... and better 3D graphics. But good games that I want to buy don't really have to have any of these things.
For sure PAL games will not run on an NTSC NES. I made the mistake of buying one in Europe, then trying to use it back home. This thing might take both though. It should be specified somewhere. I'm not too enthusiastic about this. I was one of the idiots that spent a chunk of money on the horrible horrible gameaxe. This gizmo is cheaper, and apparently better in many respects, but I'm comfortable with my top loading NES. I'm not gonna carry chunky gray carts anywhere.
Give Link a proper change of clothes, overhaul the the story rather than just mixing it up a little, let him scarf noisily on faeries, and for minigames: Hylian Whorehouse!
I don't even want to see the video. If this gets made, all parties involved need to lose money, so that something like this never gets made again. (Wisdom Tree blows)
It would be difficult to make this available with all the copyright crap. The music would have to be redone since in this vid they're using the original music directly (maybe something à la OCRemix would work, and could be awesome).
I don't see why I can't just point at the screen with the solo Wiimote. It should be precise enough. If I can do it for hours on a Metroid game on advanced sensitivity, I can certainly do it for a few minutes with a Bit.trip game. And CORE rocks! Whoever hasn't tried it should. I like BEAT, but I haven't beaten it yet
There's a video out there (possibly edited) of a guy finishing SMB3 in 11 minutes. The Bullet Bill part of this trailer is nothing compared to the stunts on that one.
It would be silly if what happened was that testers played the final, but the release was a beta. More likely, reviewers and casual gamers will approach a game from a different perspective. I won't really know what's up until I play it myself, but where I am, no one wants to play multiplayer games unless it's Mario Kart
7 is fair. I loved the game, I played on the original cart so many times I can't even give a ballpark estimate. I tried every possible combination I can think of. Nowadays, I'd rather play it on an emulator with a frameskip key. Grinding is necessary, and it's just not fun. I don't know how I could put up with it back then.
100% agree with Corbie. Nintendo has always provided me with great customer service, repairing every system I ever sent them for free. I have had issues with half their systems, so keeping my Wii unmodified, just in case, was a no-brainer. The Afterburner mod for the GBA is the only one I've ever done on a Nintendo system, 'cause, really, the unlit GBA sucked. I've hacked systems before. But I'm fully prepared for the consequences. I don't cry when I know full well that it was me who messed with my toys. And from experience I always expect Nintendo will fix it if they broke it.
Nintendo should allow, and sigh monitor, a Homebrew channel. Emulation? Nintendo is making money again from Megaman 2. If you want to play your old games without digging the old gray carts out of the attic and yanking a dead bat out of your creaky toaster NES, or paying an extra $5 for something you already own, that's what laptops and USB gamepads are for. I got emulators running on my DreamCast. Interesting, but not worth doing again in general. A PC is easier. Oddly, pretty much all I play on emulators is stuff I still own, stuff that was never sold anywhere in the world, or fan-translated imports. And yes, I've paid for stuff I own again on Virtual Console. A few titles are worth it. But if anyone in my house really needs to play Faxanadu (not on VC) or Castlevania 2 (not worth the money), the laptop is available. Nintendo should allow homebrew so long as it doesn't threaten their income, but I'm sure they'll consider any potential idea as a threat to any potential future product. :-/ Homebrew can produce creative content that will really increase the appeal of the Wii across a broader audience. If you want unmonitored homebrew with SNES emulators, etc, then go all the way and mod the heck out of your Wii, accepting any possible consequences without whining. If you want to keep the current Homebrew channel that bad, don't do updates and don't whine here, but email Nintendo like crazy!
The shop channel is just about broken. I download WiiWare and Virtual Console stuff all the time, and it's a nightmare. The little loading circle just bugs me. I have to see that thing for at least 10 seconds every time I click on anything. I mean, my connection occasionally sucks, BUT the Internet channel works smoothly. REMODEL YOUR STORE, NINTENDO!
Must have. @Indigo_Effect RE TokenGirl, Sometimes you're stuck somewhere where videogames are not in your language, and online retailers like Playasia are our salvation. I'm in Burkina Faso, and I don't want stuff in French, and I have not seen any Nintendo products in stores other than old old gray Gameboy stuff.
Out of print for ten years? Is the drama over Nintendo's first exploration into the disc format with Sony not covered? I find that to be one of the craziest bits of video game trivia, how Nintendo is sort-of the Playstation's deadbeat dad.

I looooved this game. I actually enjoyed it more than Link to the Past. Before the DX version came out I'd play with the color palettes on the Super Gameboy to make the intro look full color

Re: Review: Art of Balance (WiiWare)
I will need a puzzler soon. I played the heck out of World of Goo, and I've gotten my action fill lately, so this might be my next purchase.
Re: Sonic & Knuckles
They're announcing that it came out, but they haven't updated the game's USA release info yet on the side...

@Sean
Do you get most of the turds?
Who's doing the Blaster Master review?
Re: Blaster Master: Overdrive Coming to WiiWare on Monday
Hope it's every bit as hard as the original.
The drill and grapple look fun, the overhead areas look greatly improved, pretty exited about this one!

Re: Street Fighter Alpha 2
It plays pretty darn good. Loading time is awkward before every fight, but the gameplay itself is tight and fast.
Re: Mega Man 10 Box Art Released
They add a certain dramatic depth to what would otherwise be simple crazy jumping PYEW PYEW PYEW action...

Totally, and other similar heroic movie posters.
Any Megaman fans here heard of the Protomen?

I enjoyed what I played of the first one, though I didn't get too far into it. And shouldn't it be "Brown pants recommended"? Or rubber pants?
Re: Golden Wii An Exercise In Excess
That voids the warranty on a Wii. What an idiot!

So MM9 in 2009, MM10 in 2010, what game do we get from Capcom in 20XX?
Re: Review: Just Sing! Christmas Songs (DSiWare)
I just don't see enough DSi ware to interest me in a DSi. This release makes me gag.
Re: Review: Bit.Trip Void (WiiWare)
I'm behind! Must get Void!
And I liked Core better than Beat, but not by much. I'm having fun with this series!
Re: Prime Yourself for More Metroid
Prime is good, but I'm tired of the FPS. Gimme a side scrolling prequel with Samus jumping around in broken armor showing some skin!

It's a scientific fact that you all need to step away from the Internet and play some console videogames.
Any videogame.
Now.
